Things to do in New Orleans

  • Walk down Magazine Street: Want to bring back some treasures from New Orleans? There were so many great boutique shops. We shopped all day!

  • Visit Mardi Gras World: Let’s be honest… Mardi Gras is not kid-friendly. Mardi Gras World is up year-round and provides a behind-the-scenes look at all things Mardi Gras in a family-friendly environment!

  • Canal Place shopping: Looking for some Designer options? Canal Place has Golden Goose, Louis Vuitton and other fun stores. I love shopping on vacations — every time I wear that item I remember my trip!

  • Walk along the Riverwalk: Enjoy a stroll down the river, see steamboats, eat some beignets, take in a sunset!

  • Vue Orleans: This is the place to see the breathtaking panoramic views of NOLA from the top of the building.

  • Visit Bourbon Street! It is still a famous street to be on… even during the day when all the craziness is sleeping!

  • Take a streetcar down Canal Street.

  • Explore the French Market: Down near the French Quarter is the French Market. It’s a great little covered area with local artists, cuisine and souvenirs!

  • Discover the French Quarter: The oldest neighborhood in the city of New Orleans and home to the beautiful St. Louis Cathedral.

  • Experience the World War II Museum. It’s great for history lovers of any age!

Places to eat & drink in New Orleans

Breakfast

  • Bearcat CBD: They have amazing shrimp and grits, fluffy pancakes and bison sausage!

  • Ruby Slipper Cafe: You can put your name on the waitlist ahead of time — so that’s super helpful with hungry kids! Try their French toast bites as a starter. Yum!

  • Cafe DuMonde: Beignets are a necessity in NOLA, and while the line may be long at Cafe Beignet… it’s worth the wait to have Cafe DuMonde beignets. They are cash only and the best time to go is usually around 9 pm if you don't want a crowd!

Lunch

  • Felipe’s Mexican: Quick service, order at a kiosk or in person and a lot of kid-friendly options. However, you can also have a delicious margarita!

  • Saint John: Gumbo is a NOLA treat! Saint John is the place to get the best gumbo!

  • Saint Pizza: Who doesn’t love a good pizza! This is the best in NOLA!

Dinner

  • Drago’s: The best Charbroiled oysters in town — and a kids menu!

  • Brennan’s: Classic New Orleans cuisine, with kid-friendly options in a beautiful atmosphere!

  • Fulton Alley: A fun bowling alley with food and prohibition-style cocktails. Keep in mind, they are only kid-friendly until 8 pm.

Dessert

  • Sucré: A shop with instagram-worthy macarons, petit fours, brownies and gelato!
