Need to know

Medellín can be an amazing experience, and almost everyone I’ve talked to has agreed it is truly a fun time, but the key is to be smart and be safe. As long as you take some basic safety precautions and don’t go out to do borderline legal things, you can have a great trip in a tropical climate. It’s a good idea to have some cash on hand, as some restaurants and activities do not take cards. Some people speak English, but having Google Translate ready to go may be a helpful tool if you don’t have much knowledge of the language. It might take a little more research than some other more popular destinations, but this city is very affordable and well worth it!
