Advisor - 3 Heavenly Colorado Hot Springs Experiences in 3 Days
Curator’s statement

Since I was a little girl, I have enjoyed the healing properties of Glenwood Springs Hot Springs. There is something magical about sitting in the hot mineral water while looking around at the amazing Colorado scenery and feeling the stress of life wash away.

Where to stay

Day 1: Colorado Zephyr train

Enjoy the legendary Colorado Zephyr train as you make your way past the I-70 traffic. Traveling by train is a relaxing, scenic, and hassle-free experience. You are able to sit in your spacious seat and enjoy the gorgeous Colorado mountains rolling past. Instead of sitting in a cramped seat, you can play a game of cribbage with your friends. How about lunch and a beverage? When was the last time you had an uninterrupted conversation and shared some laughs with your partner? Enjoy the slow travel and beauty!

Day 2: Iron Mountain Hot Springs

Iron Mountain Hot Springs is located right along the Colorado River. With 32 different pools, two cafes, and a newly added 21+ section called World Springs, you can enjoy a variety of soaking options. In the legacy section, enjoy 16 natural geothermal pools, one world-inspired pool, a freshwater family pool, and a jetted spa. At World Springs, experience 10 new pebble-bottomed experience pools with mineral formulas replicating famous hot springs from around the globe, a cold plunge pool, a Dead Sea Pool, and a waterfall freshwater pool. Both cafes serve seasonal food and beverage specials.

Day 3: Yampah Spa

Once the home of Ute tribes, the historic Yampah Spa is the site of natural underground mineral water steam baths. Hot mineral waters flow through the cave floors at 125 degrees Fahrenheit and create natural geothermal steam that eases pain, increases circulation, and cleanses your pores. After a few minutes, you head upstairs to the cooling room or spacious solarium.

Day 4: Glenwood Springs Hot Springs

Finally, the Glenwood Springs Hot Springs pool. The Ute Native Americans called the source of the spring “Yampah” or “Big Medicine.” The 15 minerals found in the water create a unique blend of natural spring water that relaxes, soothes, and restores the body, mind, and spirit. The water in the Grand Pool and Therapy Pool is filtered and purified 24 hours a day, to ensure you experience the cleanest, healthiest water possible. You can experience a range of temperatures as you move through the water of the magnificent Grand Pool and alternate with a soak in the hot Therapy Pool.

Need to know

After a lovely train ride through the Colorado Mountains, you will arrive directly across the street from Maxwell Anderson Hotel or across the bridge from the Hotel Colorado. Enjoy a cold beverage and a nice meal at one of several restaurants within a block of the hotels. You will not need a car to enjoy the many hot springs and hot spots of Glenwood Springs—it is so accessible and easy to lose your stress and enjoy the sites.
