Where to stay

Unlock perks by contacting Ximena Ramos Hernandez to book your trip.

Day 1: Arrive in Puerto Escondido

  • Flying into Puerto Escondido Airport is the easiest option, though the new highway from Oaxaca City is also a great choice. The drive takes about two and a half hours.

  • Check into Raíz Hotel Boutique, then head to Punta Zicatela to take in the relaxed atmosphere of the area.

  • In the afternoon, join the turtle release experience in Palmarito—a touching and meaningful activity.

  • End the day with dinner at Mundaka.

Day 2: Boat tour & beach relaxation

  • Start your day with a boat tour to spot dolphins, turtles, and if it’s the season (December through March), whales.

  • Afterward, enjoy a delicious breakfast at Café Nopal.

  • Continue your morning at Playa Coral, one of Puerto Escondido’s hidden treasures, perfect for relaxing in a peaceful setting.

  • In the evening, dine at Almoraduz, a Michelin-recommended restaurant that elevates Oaxacan flavors beautifully.

Day 3: Eats & crafts

  • Begin your morning at Café Olé—keep in mind the portions are large and very tasty.

  • Then spend the day at Club Bacocho, where you can unwind, enjoy one of the most picturesque beaches in Puerto Escondido, and watch a stunning sunset.

  • Finish the evening with a stroll through El Adoquín, filled with beautiful Oaxacan handicrafts perfect for bringing home a piece of the region.

Day 4: Surfing & sunset

  • Start the day with breakfast at El Cafecito, a local favorite.

  • Continue to Playa Carrizalillo. Be prepared to go down about 200 steps, but trust me—it’s worth every one of them. (Tip: If you enjoy surfing, this is the perfect spot for a lesson.)

  • For sunset, head to my favorite viewpoint in Puerto Escondido: Mirador Las Tortugas. You’ll fall in love with this place, I promise.

Day 5: Say farewell

Enjoy your final breakfast at Raíz Hotel Boutique and get ready to head home after a trip filled with magic, peace, and unforgettable landscapes.

After spending these days in Puerto Escondido, you’ll leave enamored with this Pacific gem—and already planning your return.

Need to know

  • It’s important to bring cash, as many places don’t accept cards.

  • The area is full of vegetation, so make sure to bring insect repellent.

  • It’s a small destination and perfect for adventure—you can rent a scooter or ATV to get around.

  • If you enjoy nightlife, there’s a different spot to go out every day of the week.

  • If you’re planning to visit Mazunte or Zipolite, renting a car is highly recommended.

  • From May to August, it’s the hottest time of the year—be prepared for intense heat.

  • If you like surfing, you must take a class; it’s one of the best experiences here.
