My favorite hotels on the Amalfi Coast on the Amalfi Coast

Caruso, A Belmond Hotel, Ravello

From the moment we arrived, it was clear this hotel would exceed our high expectations. The service is exceptional from start to finish, setting the tone for our entire experience. Perched high in Ravello, Hotel Caruso offers some of the best views on the Amalfi Coast.

Tip: While room rates are high, even the lowest category rooms are impressively spacious.

Le Sirenuse, Positano

Le Sirenuse is the epitome of luxury and convenience, ideally situated in Positano. Its elevated location provides breathtaking views, and the hotel features a lift to beach level, bypassing the town’s many stairs. This magnificent hotel boasts an iconic pool and exquisite dining.

Tip: Take advantage of the free activities offered by the hotel, including a boat trip!

Capri Tiberio Palace, Capri

One of Capri’s most stylish hotels, Tiberio Palace combines Italian charm with modern amenities in a prime location. Everything about this hotel is perfect, which is why many guests return for their third or fourth visit.

Tip: The room configurations are particularly family-friendly compared to many other local hotels.

Il San Pietro, Positano

Many people think Il San Pietro is the best hotel on the Amalfi Coast. It does everything it can to make sure guests have a great experience. A favorite among celebrities, its magnificent beach club is a must-visit during your stay.

Tip: Don’t miss the world-renowned tennis court — remember to pack your tennis shoes!

Mezzatorre, Ischia

Located on the lesser-known island of Ischia, Mezzatorre is a standout among the Pelicano Hotels collection. It offers exceptional value and embodies the elegance of an Italian seaside resort.

Tip: For a romantic getaway or honeymoon, Mezzatorre is the ideal setting.

Punta Regina, Positano

During my first visit to Positano, I discovered this charming hotel, just a 10-minute walk from the port. Punta Regina exudes old-school Italian flair, with a welcoming and heartwarming atmosphere provided by the staff.

Tip: The suites have incredible balconies, which are rare at this price point. Consider upgrading if you can!

Ara Maris, Sorrento

One of the newest additions to the Amalfi Coast region, Ara Maris in Sorrento is easily accessible from Naples. My clients who recently stayed here on a two-week tour of Italy rated it as their favorite hotel of the entire trip.

Tip: Visit La Pergola for an aperitivo before dinner — they serve some of the best cocktails I’ve ever tasted!

Hotel Santa Caterina, Amalfi

Built into the cliffs, Santa Caterina promises a holiday of a lifetime. With stunning views and access to a beach club, it’s perfect for both couples and families. It offers a serene oasis away from the hustle and bustle of the main towns.

Tip: use the shuttle service for convenient day trips into town.

Day Trips

Without a doubt, make sure you include a boat day during your time on the Amalfi Coast. It's the best way to explore the coast and get away from the crowds during the high season.

  • Rossellinis, Ravello - Indulge in Michelin-star dining while soaking in one of the best views on the Amalfi Coast. This elegant restaurant offers a refined culinary experience with a menu that highlights the finest local ingredients.

  • La Tagliata, Positano - Enjoy the most fun and authentic dining experience in Positano. This family-run restaurant serves hearty, traditional Italian dishes, often accompanied by live music and breathtaking views of the coastline.

  • Villa Maria, Ravello - The perfect setting for a relaxed dinner after a day of exploring Ravello. Nestled in a historic villa, the restaurant offers a tranquil atmosphere and a menu that features fresh, locally-sourced ingredients.

  • Maestro's at Villa Treville, Praiano - An incredible experience from start to finish, including a scenic boat ride to reach Villa Treville. Once there, enjoy an exquisite meal in a beautiful setting overlooking the sea, with impeccable service and a menu that blends tradition and innovation.

  • Ristorante Max, Positano - Located in the heart of Positano, this charming restaurant offers seasonal dishes that celebrate the flavors of the region. The cozy, art-filled interior and the lovely garden patio make it a delightful dining destination.

  • L'Olivo, Capri - Without a doubt the best restaurant in Capri. This two Michelin-starred restaurant offers a luxurious dining experience with a creative menu that showcases the best of Italian cuisine, set in an elegant, contemporary space.

  • Da Vincenzo, Positano - A great atmosphere and one of my favorite fish restaurants in Positano. Known for its warm hospitality and delicious seafood dishes, Da Vincenzo is a must-visit for anyone looking to enjoy a memorable meal in a lively, welcoming environment.
