Curator’s statement
As someone who is absolutely obsessed with St. Barths, I’ve always wanted to experience Anguilla firsthand. The islands are often paired together for trips due to their close proximity, but they are extremely different. St. Barths is a French island and is great for people who like a balance of relaxation and high energy. There’s a social, fun vibe, ideal for couples and group trips. Anguilla, on the other hand, is a British territory that offers more of a laid-back Caribbean experience. Yes, there is still fun to be had, but the focus of Anguilla is relaxation. Think gorgeous white sand beaches as far as the eye can see, resorts that cater to every need, and a true escape from everyday life. It’s ideal for honeymoons, romantic getaways, and families. Both islands experience peak travel during the festive season, and both go quiet from mid-August through mid-October, which is hurricane season.

Things to do on Anguilla

Beaches: You’ll probably stay at a resort with a beautiful beach, but don’t let that stop you from exploring the many beaches around Anguilla– 33, to be exact! Some, like Sandy Island and Little Bay, are only accessible by boat. Reach out if you’d like more information on how to charter! Otherwise, you can also rent a colorful Moke (for as little as four hours) to cruise around the island and explore the beaches in style!
Spas: Anguilla is home to some incredible spas. The Thai House Spa at Zemi Beach House offers an oasis of Thai-inspired services in a 300-year-old authentic Thai house. For a more conventional experience, head to the Spa at Malliouhana, where you can enjoy a fantastic service, followed by a relaxing dip in the private infinity pool.
Live music: The music scene on Anguilla is vibrant and authentic to the Caribbean. You’ll find live music at beach bars and local hangs, but you can always ask your hotel concierge for recommendations on the best spots for each night of the week.
Road Salt Pond: Once central to Anguilla’s salt-harvesting and export trade, Road Salt Pond has transformed into an important sanctuary where over 100 bird species breed and thrive. Salt harvesting still occurs today, but on a much smaller scale, and visitors can pick their own salt for a very authentic souvenir.
Water sports: Whether you prefer calm explorations or adrenaline-pumping adventures, you’ll find it all in Anguilla, from paddleboarding and kayaking to kite surfing and scuba diving. Reach out for help planning your adventures!
