Mexico City holds a special place in my heart because it captures so much beauty in one destination—history, culture, art, and world-class cuisine all woven together. Every visit feels inspiring, whether I’m exploring colorful neighborhoods, savoring an unforgettable meal, or discovering hidden gems tucked away in the city. Things to do in Mexico City

  • One of my favorite things to do in Mexico City is explore its incredible food culture—from hidden street food gems to world-class restaurants, every meal feels like an adventure.

  • I love wandering through historic landmarks like the Zócalo, Metropolitan Cathedral, and Palacio de Bellas Artes, soaking in the city’s rich history and stunning architecture.

  • Chapultepec Park is another favorite, where I enjoy strolling through gardens, visiting the castle, and taking in the peaceful lakes.

  • I never miss the city’s art scene, especially the Frida Kahlo Museum and the National Museum of Anthropology, which always leave me inspired.

  • Polanco is perfect for those who love a touch of glamour, with its luxury shopping, refined dining, and chic hotels—my personal favorite is the JW Marriott, which always feels like a home away from home.

  • I also adore the festive spirit of Xochimilco, floating along the colorful canals while enjoying music and local flavors.

  • Coyoacán is a must for me, with its cobblestone streets, vibrant markets, and charming, bohemian energy.

  • And whenever I can, I take a day trip to Teotihuacán—climbing the Pyramid of the Sun is an unforgettable experience that truly connects you to Mexico’s history.

Places to eat & drink in Mexico City

  • Some of my favorite places to eat and drink in Mexico City start with The Archibald at the JW Marriott in Polanco, where I love savoring elegant cocktails and refined dishes in a sophisticated, relaxed setting.

  • For an authentic taste of local flavor, I can’t resist Tacos La Once Mil, where the tacos are bursting with fresh ingredients and bold flavors that make every bite memorable.

  • Café de Tacuba is another must-visit, a historic and charming spot where traditional Mexican dishes are served in a beautiful, atmospheric setting.

  • Pujol is a culinary highlight, offering innovative Mexican cuisine that turns dining into an unforgettable experience.

  • I also adore Quintonil, a contemporary restaurant where each dish feels like a work of art paired with thoughtful, locally inspired flavors.

  • For casual yet iconic Mexican eats, I enjoy El Moro Churrería, indulging in warm churros and rich chocolate for a sweet treat.

  • Rosetta in Roma Norte is one of my favorites for Italian-inspired dishes with a Mexican twist, in a charming, intimate atmosphere.

  • Limantour is my go-to cocktail bar, where the expertly crafted drinks and chic vibe make it perfect for a night out.

  • And whenever I want a lively yet cultural experience, I head to Mercado Roma, exploring artisanal bites, local snacks, and a vibrant food hall atmosphere.

Need to know

Travelers to Mexico City should know that it is a city best experienced slowly, savoring each neighborhood, flavor, and cultural moment.

  • I always recommend staying in Polanco or Roma Norte for a perfect blend of luxury, convenience, and charm.

  • While the city is vibrant and lively, it’s helpful to arrange private transportation or trusted rides to navigate comfortably between sites.

  • Be sure to carry small cash for markets, street food, and local vendors, while also enjoying the ease of card payments at upscale hotels and restaurants.

  • Timing is everything—explore landmarks in the morning to avoid crowds, and allow yourself long, unhurried evenings for dinners, rooftop cocktails, or strolls through historic streets.

  • Above all, embrace the city’s energy, immerse yourself in its rich history, and let its culinary delights, art, and architecture create unforgettable memories.
