A day of relaxing in Nadi, Fiji is all about slowing down and soaking up island life. Start your morning with a tropical breakfast and ocean views, then unwind with a swim in a resort pool or a stroll along a quiet beach.

Spend the afternoon indulging in a Fijian massage at a spa, visiting the lush Garden of the Sleeping Giant, or sipping fresh coconut water under the sun. As the day ends, enjoy a peaceful sunset over the water and a delicious seafood dinner while listening to live island music—pure, effortless relaxation.

A day snorkeling in Fiji is like stepping into a vibrant underwater paradise. You’ll glide through warm, crystal-clear waters above colorful coral reefs teeming with tropical fish, sea turtles, and maybe even reef sharks or manta rays.

Need to know

  • Currency: The local currency is the Fijian Dollar (FJD). Bring some cash, especially for markets or small villages, though ATMs are available in town and at the airport.

  • Transportation: Taxis are common and affordable (but often don’t use meters—agree on a price first). Rental cars are great if you want to explore beyond Nadi.

  • Weather: Fiji is tropical—hot and humid. Pack light clothing, sunscreen, insect repellent, and a reusable water bottle. The dry season (May–October) is ideal for travel.

  • Respect the culture: Fijians are warm and welcoming. Dress modestly when visiting villages, and always ask before taking photos of people. A traditional greeting is “Bula!”

  • Health: Tap water is generally safe in resorts but may not be in rural areas—bottled water is recommended. Bring basic meds, as pharmacies may have limited stock.

  • Local etiquette: Remove your shoes before entering someone’s home or a village house. If visiting a village, it’s respectful to bring a gift (called sevusevu, like kava root).

  • Connectivity: Wi-Fi can be slow in some areas. Consider buying a local SIM card (Vodafone or Digicel) for better mobile data coverage.

  • Plan island trips early: If you want to visit the nearby islands (like the Mamanucas or Yasawas), book transfers or cruises in advance, especially during peak seasons.

  • Stay flexible: “Fiji time” is real—things may move at a slower pace. Embrace the relaxed vibe and don’t stress about delays.

  • Try local food: Don’t miss out on dishes like kokoda (Fijian ceviche), lovo (earth-cooked feast), and fresh tropical fruits at the local markets.
