Day 1: Arrive in Marrakech

Your adventure begins as you touch down at Marrakech Menara Airport. After a long flight, you'll be delighted to check into Le Mamounia, a prestigious 5-star hotel. Choose Es Saadi for a more budget friendly alternative but still with a luxurious feel outside of the Medina. Le Mamounia is a legendary hotel. It is a destination in itself, boasting a storied history that dates back to the 1920s. Spend the rest of the day unwinding from your trip and book a traditional Moroccan hammam. Your stay here is not just about accommodation, it's an immersion into the very essence of Morocco's charm and hospitality. Book your dinner reservation at La Grande Table Marocaine. Other great restaurants to consider on your stay in Marrakesh would be Le Jardin, Al Fassia, Le Trou au Mur, Dar Yacout, Le Salama or Le Foundouk. Note that the majority of restaurants in Morrocco do not serve alcohol since it's predoomed a Muslim country, however you may find restaurants that serve alcohol in upscale hotels and restaurants. It's advisable to enjoy alcoholic beverages in a responsible and discreet manner, especially in places with a more traditional atmosphere.

Day 2: Explore Marrakech

A full day is dedicated to exploring the heart of Marrakech, its historic Medina. Wander through the mesmerizing Bahia Palace, marvel at the grandeur of the Koutoubia Mosque and pay your respects at the Saadian Tombs. Don't forget to visit the enchanting Jardin Majorelle. In the evening, return to Le Mamounia for another night of luxury.

Day 3:

Today, you'll explore the modern side of Marrakech, starting with the serene Menara Gardens and a visit to the Yves Saint Laurent Museum. Spend your afternoon shopping in the bustling souks for exquisite Moroccan treasures. On this day you will transfer hotels to be in the heart of the Medina. Royal Mansour and La Sultana would be excellent choices for this.

Day 4: Visit Palais El Badi

This day is yours to explore Marrakech at your own pace. You might consider visiting the Palais El Badi or discovering the Mellah (Jewish Quarter). The rest of the day and night will be spent within the tranquil walls of your riad.

Day 5: Journey to Merzouga

Bid farewell to Marrakech and embark on an early morning journey to Merzouga in the Sahara Desert. Your guide will accompany you to Skoura on a scenic journey of around 270km (170 miles). It will take approximately 5 hours to cross the High Atlas Mountains over the Tizi n’Tichka Pass. You will also make a stop in Ait Benhaddoum (one of Morcco’s World Heritage Sites) and Ouarzazate (the door of the desert). End the night in a hotel like Dar Ahlam.

Day 6: Sahara Desert Excursion

Following breakfast, the journey commences early with a scenic drive along the famed "Road of a Thousand Kasbahs", passing through charming Berber villages along the route. The next destination is Tineghir, renowned for its picturesque palm groves. Afterward, you will stop at Todra Gorges, where you'll have the opportunity to hike amid the towering 300-meter-high canyons. Subsequently you will end up at Erg Chebbi dunes in Merzouga. As the golden hour approaches, you will embark on an enchanting camel ride through the undulating dunes. You will reach your Desert camp, where an evening of delectable dining and a restful second night await. There are a few luxury desert camps available, such as Erg Chebbi Luxury Desert Camp.

Day 7: Sahara Desert Excursion

Spend the morning exploring the Sahara Desert with thrilling activities like sandboarding and enjoy traditional Berber breakfast. Your next destination is Fes and is a long ride to get there, so you will leave your camp before noon to embark on the journey. You will make your way out of the desert by 4×4, which will be another unforgettable experience. You will arrive at night, and you will check into your hotel, whether it's the elegant Palais Faraj or the enchanting Riad Fes. Take some time to rest and prepare for your adventures in the city.

Day 8: Fes, a Cultural Exploration

a-couple-sitting-in-blue-city-morroco-travel-guide

Delve into the UNESCO-listed Fes Medina, exploring its hidden treasures. Wander through the exquisite Bou Inania Madrasa, Al-Attarine Madrasa and the famous tanneries. Make time to visit the historic Mellah, Fes's Jewish Quarter. The evening is reserved for returning to your luxury hotel in Fes.

Day Trip to Chefchaouen (Blue City)

Venture on a day trip to the world-renowned Blue City of Chefchaouen. Explore its captivating streets and soak up the unique atmosphere. As the day draws to a close, return to Fes for one final night of luxury in your hotel. Another option would be to stay the night here and return the following day in the early morning, if so, the recommendation would be to stay at Heure Bleue Palais

Day 9: Soak It All In
