Curator’s statement
I always tell clients that Marrakech isn't just a destination—it's a full sensory experience. The moment you step into the medina, something shifts. The smell of spices, the sound of the call to prayer bouncing off ancient walls, the flash of color from hand-dyed textiles piled high in the souks—it's a lot, in the best possible way. I spent four magical days wandering the souks, visiting serene gardens and museums, and dining on rooftop terraces. Marrakech is endlessly captivating; below is everything I'd recommend to make the most of it in four days.

Things to do in Marrakech

The beautiful Jardin Majorelle
Souks of the Medina: I found it extremely helpful to visit the souks with a guide. He knew some of the best artisan shops for ceramics, lanterns, leather, and textiles. My guide helped me really maximize my time; without him, I would have been very lost!
Jardin Majorelle: I was so mesmerized by the beautiful greenery juxtaposed with the vibrant cobalt blue. Don't skip the Berber Arts Museum inside.
Sidecar tour: I sped around the city in a sidecar, which gave me a great overview of the neighborhoods outside the medina. My driver had interesting insights into the local culture and community.
Anima Garden: A whimsical sculpture garden that feels almost surreal.
Jemaa el-Fna at dusk: The main square transforms every evening into this incredible open-air spectacle with music, food stalls, and storytellers. Find a rooftop table and just watch it unfold.
Moroccan cooking class: This was a highlight! I joined a local chef in a riad kitchen and learned how to make a traditional Moroccan dish. I even got to go home with a beautiful tagine!
Hammam and spa: An absolute must. The traditional hammam isn't just a spa treatment, it's a cultural experience. It was equal parts invigorating and relaxing.
Yves Saint Laurent Museum: The museum was sadly closed during my visit, but it is a must for design-minded clients.
Places to eat & drink in Marrakech

El Fenn Rooftop
The food scene here is very exciting—deeply traditional Moroccan alongside some really creative contemporary spots.
My favorites:
La Maison Arabe for an elegant, romantic Moroccan dinner in a courtyard setting.
El Fenn Rooftop for stylish views over the medina.
Pétanque Social Club for something a bit lighter and French-inspired in a gorgeous garden.
Dar Soukkar for a full glamorous evening with entertainment.
Also worth knowing about: Le Jardin, Nomad Marrakech, and Bacha Coffee (a must for coffee lovers).
Need to know
If you have longer than four days, I recommend adding on one (or several) or these nearby destinations:
The Atlas Mountains: Just one hour from Marrakech, the Atlas Mountains offer a completely different side of Morocco. Whether it's a scenic drive through Berber villages, a hike to a waterfall in the Ourika Valley, or a stay at the extraordinary Kasbah Tamadot (Richard Branson's mountain retreat), this is a beautiful contrast to the intensity of the medina. Even a day trip here is worth it.
The Agafay Desert: Just 45 minutes from the city, the Agafay is a rocky moonscape desert that feels like another world entirely. It's not the sweeping sand dunes of the Sahara, but it's dramatic and accessible—perfect for a sundowner camel ride, a luxury desert camp dinner, or even an overnight under the stars at Habitas Agafay.
Essaouira: About two and a half hours west on the Atlantic coast, Essaouira is the perfect antidote to Marrakech's sensory overload. It's windswept, bluewashed, and laid back—a UNESCO-listed port town with great seafood, a creative arts scene, and a medina that feels calm by comparison.
