Torrey Pines is up there with some of the most iconic courses in the country along with Pebble Beach Golf Links, PGA West, Pinehurst, Troon North and Bandon Dunes to name a few. Although Torrey Pines is a public course managed by the city of San Diego, getting a tee time can be challenging. It is not quite as simple as calling the week before to secure a tee time at Torrey Pines. How far ahead can you book a tee time?
With 12 players or less, tee times are made available 90 days prior. So if you and your foursome would like a tee time, better prepare 90 days ahead of time.
Tee times can be sold out in a matter of minutes.
Is there a waitlist for Torrey Pines?
Not officially. However as a travel advisor I can assist with my suppliers that can get you on a waitlist. Cancellations do occur, but through regular channels, there is no notification system of cancellations.
I still want to play golf, are there other courses near or like Torrey Pines?
Yes, I can help find you other courses for your golf trip. There are over 25 premier golf courses that I would recommend and private clubs in San Diego.

There are two courses, prices will vary depending on day of week and time of day. Prices start at $111 and go up to $292 for peak times per person for 18-holes for Non-Residents. There is a $50 advanced booking fee per player.
Where should I stay for a golf trip at Torrey Pines?
It’s good to note that Torrey Pines Golf Club is just a golf club. The hotels will be located just a short distance. Some of the hotels or resorts even have their own golf courses, so if you want to get in multiple rounds, you can play Torrey Pines then the course at your hotel.
Here is what I recommend for hotels when planning a trip to play golf at Torrey Pines:
Omni La Costa Resort and Spa
Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines
Fairmont Grand Del Mar
How to get to Torrey Pines?
San Diego International Airport is about 16 miles/25-minute drive.
How can a travel advisor assist with playing Torrey Pines?
The hardest thing about traveling for a golf trip is securing the tee times. A travel advisor can assist with planning the entire trip, securing tee times, hotels and transport. One thing you need to be is flexible. The exact week or times for tee times may not be available. You should prepare to be flexible when securing tee times for Torrey Pines. A travel advisor can assist with narrowing down the tee times and providing you options without you having to keep refreshing the screen.
The best way to secure a tee time is with a package through a golf travel advisor like me. A package will arrange everything for you, all you must do is show up.
