Advisor - Scottsdale & Sedona Itinerary: A Desert Reset Incentive Experience
Curator’s statement

I visited Scottsdale and Sedona in December to explore resorts and experiences well suited for corporate incentive travel—places that reward performance while encouraging reflection, connection, and reset. This itinerary is designed for incentive groups who value meaning, perspective, and intentional celebration over spectacle. The flow of the journey is deliberate, allowing recognition moments and shared experiences to unfold naturally. The result is a balanced experience that pairs a design-forward desert retreat with Sedona’s grounding natural beauty—ideal for teams who give a lot and deserve something thoughtfully curated in return.

Day 1: Arrival in Scottsdale & elevated desert welcome

ADERO Scottsdale Resort, Autograph Collection

Arrive in Phoenix and transfer to the ADERO Scottsdale Resort, Autograph Collection, perched high in the McDowell Mountains above the city. The drive itself sets the tone—urban energy fades as desert vistas open up. Upon arrival, guests are welcomed into a low-density, design-forward resort where the focus is outward: views, light, and an immediate sense of separation from everyday pace.

ADERO unfolds across a quiet ridgeline, with wide-open desert views stretching endlessly by day and city lights shimmering far below at night. Architecture and interiors lean modern and restrained, intentionally framing the surrounding landscape rather than competing with it. Guest rooms feature private balconies that invite stillness, while public spaces flow seamlessly outdoors. As one of the region’s only Dark Sky–certified resorts, evenings take on a distinctive quality, with stargazing replacing screens and schedules.

For incentive groups, ADERO doesn’t feel like a traditional luxury resort—it feels like a reset. It’s a place where high performers can exhale, reconnect with one another, and feel genuinely recognized without excess or distraction. The atmosphere is intentional, grounding, and quietly memorable—often the kind of experience teams don’t realize they’re craving until they arrive.

The afternoon is intentionally unstructured, allowing guests to settle in, enjoy their private balconies, or explore the resort’s outdoor wellness spaces. This downtime is especially valuable for incentive groups arriving from high-intensity roles. CIELO, located onsite, is ideal for a first-night dinner that feels celebratory yet relaxed, with elevated Southwestern flavors, panoramic sunset views, and an unhurried pace that encourages reconnection and informal recognition.

Day 2: Desert perspective & celebration in Scottsdale

Taliesin West, Frank Lloyd Wright’s desert masterpiece

Begin the morning at leisure—sunrise walks, optional wellness programming, or a casual onsite breakfast overlooking the desert. ADERO’s calm environment encourages organic conversation and connection without forced agenda-setting. Late morning or early afternoon, depart for a cultural immersion at Taliesin West, Frank Lloyd Wright’s desert masterpiece. Located conveniently near ADERO, this experience adds intellectual depth and a sense of place, particularly resonant for science-driven teams who appreciate design, innovation, and legacy.

The afternoon can be tailored to the group’s interest: spa time back at the resort, a hosted discussion, or quiet personal time. For dinner, I recommend La Hacienda at Fairmont Scottsdale Princess—ideal for a warm, festive celebration with strong regional character. Another option is Bourbon Steak at Fairmont Scottsdale Princess—best suited for a formal awards or leadership recognition evening with polished service and a refined atmosphere.

Day 3: A scenic transition from Scottsdale to Sedona

L’Auberge de Sedona

After breakfast, depart Scottsdale for Sedona. The drive marks a clear emotional transition—from modern desert retreat to red-rock sanctuary. This change keeps the incentive experience from feeling repetitive while reinforcing a sense of journey. Sedona offers something increasingly rare: space to think, breathe, and reconnect with purpose. The red rock landscape naturally encourages reflection and meaningful conversation, making recognition feel more personal and less performative.

Check in at L’Auberge de Sedona, set along Oak Creek and surrounded by towering red rocks. Tucked beneath a canopy of sycamores, the resort blends rustic elegance with a sense of calm that feels deeply connected to the landscape. The property feels intimate, grounded, and distinctly place-driven—perfect for the second phase of the program. The afternoon is open for exploration of Uptown Sedona, light hiking, or simply enjoying the creekside setting. The Vault Uptown presents a lively yet approachable dinner option with views over Sedona’s dramatic landscape. The energy here contrasts nicely with ADÉRO’s quiet refinement and gives the group a taste of Sedona’s vibrant town atmosphere.

Day 4: Red rock exploration & renewal in Sedona

Mariposa Latin Inspired Grill

This day is designed to let guests experience Sedona in a way that feels personal and restorative rather than scheduled. This flexibility is especially valued by high performers who spend much of their professional lives on tightly structured schedules. Activity options can be tailored to energy levels and interests, allowing high performers to engage deeply—or simply slow down.

For active guests, guided red rock hikes offer an immersive way to experience Sedona’s iconic landscape while encouraging conversation and reflection. Routes can be customized from gentle scenic walks to more challenging climbs, making this accessible to mixed-ability groups.

For a more adventurous option, private jeep tours provide access to Sedona’s rugged backcountry, combining storytelling, geology, and unforgettable viewpoints with minimal physical demand. These tours work especially well for incentive groups that want a shared experience without overexertion.

Wellness-focused guests may prefer spa treatments, creekside relaxation, or mindfulness experiences at the resort, leaning into Sedona’s reputation as a place of grounding and renewal. Many groups opt for a hybrid approach—offering parallel activities so guests can choose what feels most rewarding to them.

I strongly recommend an early dinner reservation (around 4:30 pm) at the Mariposa Latin Inspired Grill to fully enjoy the sweeping mountain views and sunset. This final evening serves as a memorable capstone—celebratory, scenic, and emotionally resonant.

Day 5: Departure & return refreshed

Sedona’s red rock views

After breakfast at the resort, depart Sedona for Phoenix International Airport. Don’t forget to enjoy the breathtaking views on the way out. Guests leave feeling not only rewarded, but also recalibrated—having experienced a program that honored achievement while making space for clarity, connection, and renewal.

Need to know

This itinerary works best for smaller groups, where intimacy and experience quality matter more than scale. ADERO Scottsdale’s quiet, low-density design is ideal for high performers who appreciate space and intention, while Sedona adds emotional depth and variety. For incentive programs, pacing is key—it’s best to avoid over-programming and let the destinations do the work. Early dinner reservations in Sedona are essential to take advantage of the mountain views and sunsets, and private transportation between Scottsdale and Sedona is strongly recommended for a seamless transition.
