Sunset in Barbados
Curator’s statement

The undeniable beauty of Barbados has been drawing people to its shores for centuries. Pirates and sailors used to purposefully sink their boats to stay marooned on this magical island. Known as the original "Treasure Island" - Barbados is full of gorgeous beaches, an unbelievable abundance of marine life and locals that make you feel like you are at home the minute you step off the plane. Whether you are looking to experience the majesty of wild sea turtles just off the beach, you want to dive one of they many shipwrecks or want to explore eat and lime (as the locals say) you can not go wrong in Barbados.

Day 1: Try local cuisine on the beach

Arrive at BGI and get ready to check into your hotel. Get a low key taste of the island at The Tiki Bar on one of the south coasts most beautiful beaches. Try the Buljol, it is a Caribbean dip combining salt fish, onions and tomatoes coupled with local herbs and spices. They also make phenomenal fish cakes.

Day 2: Bridgetown

3 archways to beach

Days start early in Barbados. The island gets 12 hours of sunlight year round with daylight spanning from around 6am to 6pm everyday. Cruise over to Bridgetown to experience this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Give yourself enough time to take it all in, you never know you may end up at the Mount Gay Rum Distillery. For dinner make reservations at Champers cliffside restaurant for dinner. Be sure to order the Barracuda or the Rack of Lamb, you will not be disappointed.

Day 3: Boat day

Time to get out on the water. Today is the day you should charter that private boat to take you up the coast, go diving or have one of our amazing tour operators take you on a snorkel adventure you will not soon forget. This is the only place that I know of where you are guaranteed to see wild sea turtles from the beach and while in the water. The majestic creatures literally swim right up to you. Its one of the most amazing things you can experience in this life time. For dinner head to Primo Steak in St. Lawrence Gap, rest up before you go, you could end up dancing the night away in one of gap's many bars or at the club.

Day 4: Hang out at the beachclub

The Boatyard Beach Club is one of the most amazing white sand beaches in the world.

Sleep in! Can't believe this is the last full day in Barbados. Don't fret! If you want a quiet beach day head to worthing beach and get chill lunch at Mojo's. If you want to turn up on this last day shoot up to Boatyard Beach Club. For dinner, make a reservation at Tapas enjoy alfresco dining on the hasting boardwalk.
