Georgetown Lake
Red Rock Amphitheatre

Hiking
Hiking in the Denver area offers easy access to hundreds of scenic trails, many located just 30 minutes from downtown. From gentle creekside walks to challenging mountain climbs, there’s something for every skill level. With well-maintained paths and stunning views of the Rockies, it’s a haven for outdoor enthusiasts year-round.
The Bear Creek and Creekside Trail in Idledale (about 30 minutes outside of Denver) provides a scenic hike along a fish-filled creek, framed by rolling hills and lush, shaded greenery. Cottonwood trees line the path, with picnic tables scattered throughout, perfect for a peaceful rest. After crossing the creek, the trail connects to the Bruin Bluff Trail. Easy hike for families and acclimating to altitude.
Tip: Parking around most hiking trails in CO can get busy on the weekends or holidays. Try to get to trailheads early to ensure a parking spot.
Denver Botanic Gardens
The Denver Botanic Gardens is a year-round destination featuring stunning plant collections and a variety of seasonal events. Flying trapeze & aerial fitness
This is Colorado’s first flying trapeze school with classes for adults, teens, and kids most days of the week in the summer. It is staffed with experienced coaches that guide you through every step of the way. This is an easy drive to the Denver suburb of Westminster for a couple of hours of thrilling fun.
Tubing in Golden
Tubing in Golden, Colorado is a fun and thrilling way to cool off during the summer. Clear Creek runs through downtown and offers fast-moving Class II–III rapids, making it popular for adventure seekers. The best time to go is late June through early fall, depending on water levels.
For those with their own equipment, tubing is free and the typical route starts at the Gateway Trailhead and floats down to Vanover Park, the designated exit. If a guided experience is preferred, local outfitters offer rentals and shuttle services.
Golden is a great town to explore after your tubing adventure. It is filled with shops, restaurants, and breweries in a small-town atmosphere.
Visit Georgetown
Georgetown is a historic mountain town just 45 minutes from Denver, but feels like a world away. Known for its charming Victorian buildings and the scenic Georgetown Loop Railroad, it offers a mix of history, shopping, and outdoor activities.
