For families with older children and teens, enjoy the gentle hike up Mount Eden, one of Auckland's 53 volcanic cones, and a panoramic lookout over the city. Auckland Zoo and the SEA LIFE Aquarium are also popular with wildlife-loving littles.

Day 4-5: Rotorua: Family-Friendly Culture & Cuisine

Te Puia in Rotorua is a captivating geothermal park that showcases Māori culture and the mesmerizing beauty of bubbling geysers, steaming vents, and traditional arts.

Start your first day in Rotorua with an adrenaline-pumping adventure. Navigate through the thrilling rapids of the Kaituna River while enjoying the stunning natural surroundings. Later, be sure to visit Te Puia, a Māori cultural and geothermal center. Here you’ll experience traditional Māori performances, learn about their rich heritage and witness the impressive Pohutu Geyser. For dinner, enjoy a traditional hangi, a delicious feast cooked in an earth oven.

Tomorrow, prepare for a unique adventure: Zorbing! Experience the thrill of rolling down a hill in a giant inflatable ball at Zorb Rotorua. Ready to refuel? Head to Rotorua’s central EatStreat for a family-friendly lunch. After lunch, head to the Redwoods Forest (Whakarewarewa Forest) for a walk or bike ride amid towering redwood trees. Try the Redwoods Treewalk, a series of suspended bridges that offer a unique treetop perspective.

Day 5-8: Queenstown: Explore the Adventure Capital

Skyline Queenstown offers breathtaking views and exhilarating experiences, combining gondola rides, dining, and adventure activities in the stunning alpine surroundings of Queenstown, New Zealand.

Queenstown is the adventure capital of New Zealand, making it the perfect destination for active families. Take a leisurely cruise on Lake Wakatipu aboard the historic TSS Earnslaw steamship or embark on a scenic gondola ride to the Skyline Queenstown complex, where thrilling luge rides and panoramic views await.

For the adventurous, the Shotover Jet offers heart-pounding jet boat rides. Families can also explore Queenstown’s many biking and walking trails, lakefront relaxation and plenty of delicious restaurants including the famous Fergberger hamburger cafe. After hours, parents can wind-down with a luxurious soak at Onsen Hot Pools or a sophisticated nightcap at Eichardt’s Bar.

The spectacular Milford Sound is a must-see for any New Zealand visitor. Easily reached from Queenstown, a comfortable coach or self-drive journey through awe-inspiring landscapes will keep young minds engaged with ever-changing scenery. Upon arrival at Milford Sound, board a small boat cruise that takes your family up close to cascading waterfalls, towering cliffs and playful marine life.
