Advisor - The Perfect Mother-Daughter Italy Trip: Teen Edition
Curator’s statement

Venice and Florence are kind of perfect for a mother-daughter trip—especially with teen girls. There is so much beauty everywhere you look, but it's not just about sightseeing. It's fashion, craftsmanship, art, food, and selfies, all layered together in a way that feels inspiring instead of exhausting. I always try to weave in experiences you can actually do together—creating perfume, working with artisans, even a fun photoshoot—because those are the moments that everyone remembers. It ends up being about the memories you create together, which is really the whole point.

Things to do in Italy

Venetian masks

  • Mask-making workshop in Venice: Decorate traditional Venetian masks with an artisan inside his studio.

  • Artisan perfume creation in Florence: Design your own custom fragrance with a master perfumer, creating a scent that will forever remind you of your trip.

  • Traditional Venetian photo shoot: In case you're not invited to a ball during Carnevale, you can still dress up and get some fun pictures out of it.

  • Oltrarno artisan walk: Florence's artisan district offers so many different things to try—paper marbeling, leather sandal making, or just shopping!

  • Gelato crawl: Try them all, take a selfie with each, and report your findings. I can send you a list of all of my favorites!

Places to eat & drink in Italy

  • Il Santo Bevitore: Stylish, lively, modern, and really special for a night out in the Oltrarno area.

  • La Giostra: A delicious, charming, family-run spot that will treat you like a long-lost cousin.

  • Cibreo Caffe: An institution with elevated classics—great for the foodie teen.

  • Gucci Garden: If your teen is into fashion, this is a great place for lunch in the coolest spot in town.

  • Bar D'Angolo: A perfect local spot on a sunny corner in Porta Romana; come for a caffè in the morning or lively aperitivo hour.

  • Cafe Florian: Famous for a reason; get the hot chocolate and take lots of pics.

  • Al Covo: Always delivers on charm and taste; if you only have one night, go here.

Need to know

Traveling in Italy with teen girls is really about finding the balance—a little culture, a little shopping, plenty of gelato, and enough downtime that no one feels rushed. Let her lead the way sometimes. The best days usually have one planned activity and then space to wander, pop into boutiques, sit at a café, or just soak up the atmosphere. Booking key experiences and major sights in advance makes a huge difference, especially in busy seasons, and keeps the trip feeling smooth instead of stressful. And comfortable shoes are non-negotiable—these cities are made for walking—ideally paired with a daily gelato ritual, which honestly solves almost everything.
