Valencia is a relaxed and welcoming city for people traveling with their dogs. Having spent full days wandering the city with my own dog Chaplin, I think she would agree. The locals are enthusiastic about dogs, while also being respectful of their space. Sitting at a terrace café, strangers walk past, offer a greeting to Chaplin, and she wiggles with delight every single time. The city simply embraces dogs as part of daily life in a way that makes the whole experience feel effortless and warm. For travelers who love wandering neighborhoods, sitting at outdoor cafés, and spending time outside, Valencia is an ideal place to explore with a four-legged companion. Beyond being dog friendly though, the architecture, the beaches, the natural space, and the food make it a fantastic place for you to enjoy as well! It’s not just for our pups.

Fairbanks sits beneath the auroral oval, making it one of the best places in the world to see the Northern Lights. If you’re hoping to see the aurora from the Americas, this is where to be. In winter, the long dark nights create the perfect stage for ribbons of green and purple light to dance across the sky. Seeing the Northern Lights had long been a bucket list dream of mine, so visiting Fairbanks felt a little surreal. Nature, of course, is unpredictable, and while the lights didn’t appear directly overhead during my visit, we were lucky enough to see them glow and move across the sky. And honestly, just being there, standing under that huge Alaskan night, made the trip completely worth it. One of the most memorable parts of the experience was our guide, who had been chasing the aurora for decades. Every time the lights appeared, he would start shouting and running around like an excited kid, completely thrilled by the sky. Watching someone love their work and the natural world that much made the moment even more magical and absolutely entertaining on long frozen nights.

Tulum is famous for its beautiful Caribbean beaches, and for good reason—the water here is impossibly blue and the sand soft and bright. But some of the most memorable experiences happen once you step beyond the shoreline. The Caribbean water is incredibly clear, making it perfect for snorkeling over coral reefs, and the surrounding jungle hides freshwater cenotes that feel like natural swimming pools. When I visited, I spent plenty of time enjoying the beach, but the moments that stayed with me most were the adventures beyond it. From exploring Mayan ruins perched above the sea to taking a day trip to Chichén Itzá, Tulum offers a remarkable blend of natural beauty and history.

Prague is as much a city full of life as it is a living architecture museum. Romanesque foundations, Gothic towers, Baroque churches, Art Nouveau facades and even Cubist buildings all coexist within a remarkably walkable historic center. One of the best ways to experience Prague is simply by wandering, letting the streets lead you from medieval bridges to ornate squares and quiet courtyards. This walking route highlights some of the city’s most beautiful architecture, with a few excellent stops along the way for hot chocolate, coffee and even a glass of traditional absinthe.

Los Angeles is far more than celebrities, traffic, and the Hollywood Walk of Fame. It’s a world-class cultural capital that I had the pleasure of living in for 12 years, and it’s where I met some of the most fascinating, creative people in my life. Exploring the city’s museums with friends, artists, and curious locals taught me to see Los Angeles not just as a backdrop for entertainment, but as an artistic experience in itself. From the wonderfully strange Museum of Jurassic Technology in Culver City to the sweeping views and masterpieces at the Getty Center, these spots showcase the incredible range of voices, ideas, and imagination that define the city.
