I hadn't used a travel agent in a loooooooong time, and so I was a little skeptical of whether I would like it or not. Here are the things I really appreciated:
Your help in curating options. Honestly, I find travel planning really overwhelming these days. There is simply too much information out there, and so it becomes difficult to know what to trust, etc. For recent trips, I've actually been buying Lonely Planet guides again because I find it super helpful to have some thoughtful curation and organization about a country/place--rather than wading through the random travel advice blogs that dominate the internet these days.
Your patience and flexibility, especially when my plans changed. Your acting as the go-between for booking the safari. I know that I could have interacted directly with Mufasa (and most other safari operators) to book that portion of my trip. But I appreciated not having to take that on.

The Sanraku wasn't initially on my list of places to stay, but Liz suggested we check it out and it was a great recommendation. Well priced in a great location for our short visit to Kanazawa.

Liz suggested the Hyatt Regency which was great because Kyoto has so many options to choose from. She was also able to add free daily breakfast and hotel credit to our booking.

I will absolutely book future trips with Liz, and refer others to her. She gave us a nice selection of activities to choose from, and was very clear in her communication and follow-up.

We are back and we had a fabulous trip. You did an amazing job and everything went smoothly, thank you. All the accommodations, lodges included, were great. The infrastructure including guides, drivers, greeters were all fantastic and made travel so less stressful…Thanks again for your excellent help making our vacation so memorable.

Queenstown, New Zealand: A Guide to Adrenaline Adventures, Local Flavors & Iconic Scenery
I spent time in Queenstown and the South Island in fall 2025, and it quickly became one of my favorite destinations for its mix of adventure, scenery, and great food. The landscapes are big and dramatic, but planning a trip here isn’t always straightforward—weather, drive times, and the logistics behind many experiences can make things tricky to navigate on your own. That’s why working with trusted on-the-ground partners is key to making the entire experience seamless, safe, and unforgettable.

3 Days in Kyoto: Bamboo Forests, Temples & Soba
Kyoto is a city of contrasts: centuries-old temples and quiet gardens sit alongside neon-lit arcades and 100-yen shops. Michelin-star dining just a few blocks from ramen counters. It’s every bit as magical as the photos, but also surprisingly approachable once you wander beyond the main sights. This three-day itinerary blends a balance of elevated and everyday experiences. For some, that’s a Michelin-star dinner; for others, it’s a 7-11 egg salad sandwich by the river. There’s no right answer. It’s travel. Your way.

Wine Country Without the Crowds: Your Guide to Los Alamos & Los Olivos, California
Los Olivos and Los Alamos are two of my favorite spots in California’s Santa Ynez Valley—walkable, relaxed, and full of local character. In Los Olivos, it’s all about small-town wine tastings, historic buildings, and easy charm—many of the tasting rooms are run by the same folks who farm the nearby vineyards. Los Alamos brings a little more edge, with vintage shops, standout food, and a quirky Western feel. Just two and a half hours from LA and 30 minutes from Santa Barbara, it’s an easy getaway where you can pack a lot of great meals, wine, and local shopping into a laid-back 36 hours.

How to Spend a 100-Degree Weekend in Palm Springs
Palm Springs has long been a favorite escape of mine—a place where desert serenity meets retro glam. I love this city: old-Hollywood charm, Spanish colonial architecture, and a relaxed, sun-soaked vibe that feels both luxurious and low-key. While most people flock here in winter and spring, the summer has its own magic—think fewer crowds, better rates, and pool days that stretch long into the evening. Is it hot? Yes. Is it worth a visit? Yes, again.

Ugandan Chimps, Gorillas and Wildlife Safari With Hornbill Treks & Safaris
In March 2025, I had the incredible opportunity to join a Hornbill Treks & Safaris FAM trip to Uganda. Our journey began in Kampala, followed by primate trekking in Kibale National Park, a safari in Queen Elizabeth National Park and gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. We wrapped up the trip back in Kampala. Hornbill, with their warm team, outstanding partner properties and expert driver-guides, delivered an unforgettable experience that had me eager to plan my next safari before I even left.
