As an architect, I have a passion for design, authenticity, and experiencing the essence of a place when traveling. Whether syncing with the energy of a vibrant city or digitally detoxing in nature, surrendering in every way. A morning can be spent exploring historic city centers, then a modern museum, or a sunrise hike in the jungle before a leisurely afternoon on the beach. Either way, it is essential to come back to a hotel with inspired design and notable comfort. Usually, the day will conclude by savoring a cocktail at sunset before an exciting dining experience.

A Long Weekend Full of Family Adventure for Teens in the Algarve, Portugal
Our family of four arrived in the Algarve region of Portugal from Spain. Just a short drive from Seville, we were immediately in awe of the raw natural beauty of the coastline. Dramatic cliffs in all shades of orange plunged into the Mediterranean Sea, leaving secluded beaches and dramatic rock formations to explore. For the next four days, we would hike the coastal trails, kayak sea caves, paddle board secret beaches, and explore culinary and cultural adventures as well. While outdoors adventure was our goal, the relaxed pace of life, food, and hospitable culture left us at ease and completely relaxed and restored.

Memories of my travel to Bhutan years ago feel dreamlike, suspended in my imagination. Perhaps it was the thin high-altitude air of the Himalayas or the mountain mist that welcomed us every morning with spectacular, muted sunrises. Everything felt other worldly and mystical. Days were spent hiking through pristine mountain valleys and exploring the inner most sanctums of Buddhist temples. Photos were not allowed, so these memories only remain part of our consciousness. We were humbled throughout our travels by the quiet devotion that permeates daily life. There is a quiet and calm that stays with you long after you return home. Bhutan is truly a life-changing, awe-inspiring destination in every way.

Val d’Isere: Spring Break Skiing in the French Alps
For an epic mountain experience both on and off the slopes, Val d'Isère will not disappoint. As part of the Espace Killy, the terrain is massive, with seamless connections to Tignes for spectacular glacier skiing via funicular and high-altitude tram. An especially smart choice late in the season, snow is almost assured until late April due to Val’s high elevation reaching over 11,000 feet (3,400 meters). Blue-sky days and sundecks for après ski make for an epic spring break.
