When you think of Fiji, you might think of it as being a romantic honeymoon destination. This is very accurate, however, we were delighted to discover that Fiji is a great family-friendly destination as well. The warm hospitality, natural beauty, and barefoot luxury of the islands make for the perfect family getaway.

We decided for our 20th wedding anniversary to return to Ireland, but celebrate it with our kids and parents. Because we were traveling with a multigenerational group, we decided moving around every other day from hotel to hotel like we did 20 years ago was not practical. For this trip, we opted to do day trips from hotels in two regions. Traveling during the week of Thanksgiving meant chilly weather, but the trade-off was fewer crowds than in the summer months.

For our first trip to Europe as a family of four (parents and teenagers age 13&16) we wanted the best of both worlds: To enjoy time as a family with self-paced days to ourselves, but also touring with a group so we could enjoy someone else being the tour director. We did not want to rent a car, another benefit of traveling with a group. With Tauck, not only did they have exciting activities, we had some really incredible behind-the-scenes experiences.
