This cruise was part of a Seminar at Sea, where I was invited by Norwegian Cruise Line to experience the Norwegian Encore firsthand as part of my ongoing professional development as a travel advisor. My goal was to deepen my knowledge of the ship and its Alaska itinerary so I can confidently guide future clients in planning their own adventures.

While the timing of my sailing—the first week of October—meant that many local businesses in the ports were already closed for the season, it still offered a valuable glimpse into the ship’s strengths and the beauty of Alaska’s landscapes. The Encore delivered outstanding entertainment, an excellent spa experience, and friendly service throughout, even as a large ship nearing full capacity.

This experience allowed me to evaluate how the Norwegian Encore suits different travelers and to see Alaska through the lens of both education and exploration.

Before this trip, I thought of Cabo as just another beach town—margaritas, sunburns, and spring break energy. But what I found was a destination with split personalities, in the best way. Cabo San Lucas is all about energy: music, nightlife, and constant motion. Meanwhile, San José del Cabo offered me a completely different experience—peaceful mornings, art walks, and slow, sunny lunches. It was like discovering two destinations in one place. I came for work, but left with a real appreciation for how dynamic this region is—and a running list of places I’m already recommending to friends and clients.

This Mediterranean cruise aboard the Oceania Riviera was special to me because it combined the perfect balance of luxury and comfort. The ship itself offered unparalleled service and exquisite dining, making every moment on board feel indulgent. But what really stood out were the diverse, breathtaking destinations we visited — each offering its own unique history and charm, from the colorful streets of Portofino to the opulence of Monte Carlo.
