My Story
A curious traveler and empty-nester turned travel advisor, I’ve got a lifelong passion for Italy and the Mediterranean region. With a Masters in Food Studies, my joy is exploring regional foodways, cooking with the locals, and finding the best bites, whether down a hidden side street or a country road. A well-curated (culinary) itinerary can make for deluxe memories, whether it starts with a boutique hotel or a humble farm stay. I’m hungry for the world and eager to share it with you.
Travel Style
When creating a trip, I prize authentic experiences that offer the opportunity to slow down and really get to know a destination. I love building a well-organized itinerary where every detail is considered so you can delight in the journey without the stress. You’re likely to find me learning to stretch mozzarella, soaking in natural hot springs, people-watching in a piazza, or hiking a coastal nature preserve. Agriturismi, cooking classes, farm and producer tours, and bike rides through the countryside—I consider these some key elements of an unfussy and unforgettable travel experience. If you like a mellow mix of hands-on adventure, guided cultural tours, and peaceful connection with the natural world, you’re a kindred spirit. Let’s find what’s beautiful, sustainable, and delicious together!

Wild Beauty: Calabria, Italy’s Rugged Gem
Bella Calabria, the unspoiled region of my ancestors, offers breathtaking treasures to travelers willing to slow down and get off the beaten track. A mere ninety minutes transports you from the gorgeous crystalline ocean to the alpine forests, from penetrating sunshine to cool mountain breezes. A place of intense and rugged beauty with more than 500 miles of coastline spanning two seas (Ionian and Tyrrhenian), Calabria is a carnival for sun worshipers, swimmers, skiers, hikers, bikers, foragers, and anyone who appreciates quality time spent with Mother Nature. The cuisine is hyperlocal cucina povera that respects traditional ingredients familiar as the roots of Italian-American favorites but is imbued with the ancient spirit of this wild land.

La Grande Bellezza: Rome's Aventine Hill & Beyond
My first visit to Rome 30 years ago brought me here, the Aventino, to study Italian. Nostalgia brings me back, again and again, to this tranquil hill, one of the city’s famous seven, perched elegantly between Trastevere and Testaccio. Mostly residential, the Aventino is a great launching pad for a relaxing day of strolling the cobblestones in search of Roman views, bites, and "la bella figura" just beyond the heart of Rome.
