My Story
I grew up in Idaho, which is not the most obvious origin story for someone who now lives in Istanbul. Born in Florida, raised in the mountains, and restless from the start. I've since lived in England, France, Orange County, and Los Angeles before landing in Türkiye, where I've been for the past several years with my Turkish husband. I've been to 33 countries. I'm still counting.
Before advising, I spent five years in the airline industry and several more in hotels. That background shapes how I work in ways that are hard to replicate. I understand how pricing actually moves, what availability really means, and which asks are worth making. Most travel advisors have only ever been on the client side. I've been on both.
My husband and I co-produce Passport Dates, a travel content brand where we share the honest version of where to go and what to skip. If you've watched any of it, you already know how I think about travel.
Travel Style
There's a layer to a place you only get when you actually live there. Türkiye (Turkey) is a deep specialty for me, not because I visited once and loved it, but because I live here. I shop here, I know which neighborhoods are worth your time and which restaurants have nothing to do with tourism. When I recommend something in Turkey, I'm recommending it as a resident.
Cruises are another area I've spent serious time in, from river itineraries through Europe and Nile cruises to ocean sailings across the Mediterranean, Caribbean, and beyond. Most people either overlook them entirely or book without understanding how the pricing actually works. I know how to find real value in this space.
For safari, I've personally traveled in South Africa, including game reserves and the Cape Winelands. For the rest of East Africa, I work through strong supplier relationships and a vetted network. I'll always be upfront about what I know firsthand versus what I know through people I trust.
I've lived across much of the United States. Los Angeles and the surrounding area is home territory for me, and I grew up in southern Idaho with a lot of time in northern Utah, so I know that corridor well, too.
I also offer travel rewards optimization for clients who want to use points and miles for business class flights or luxury hotel nights, and I handle group travel, including room blocks for destination weddings, reunions, retreats, and corporate groups.
Every trip I design starts the same way: I want to know what you're hoping to feel, not just where you want to go.
Specialties: Türkiye/Turkey & Istanbul · Cruises (river & ocean) · Safari & South Africa · Luxury hotel curation · Group travel & room blocks · Travel rewards optimization · Japan · Slow luxury itineraries · Milestone & celebration travel · Los Angeles & Southern California · Southern Idaho & Northern Utah

My friend and I just returned from our summer trip to Britain and Ireland, and it was the trip of a lifetime! Our travel agent, Elaine Brackin, was absolutely fantastic. From our first call, she took the time to understand our varied interests and budget. She directed us to a tour that balanced adventure and relaxation perfectly and covered all of the countries and sights we wanted to see.
All of our flights, transfers, insurance, and accommodations were perfectly organized, leaving us with zero stress. The tour and hotels she recommended were exactly what we were looking for.
Elaine even checked in with us during our trip to make sure everything was running smoothly, which was so thoughtful. We couldn't have done it without her expertise, and we are already planning our next vacation with her. Highly, highly recommend!

Elaine was excellent at helping me book my trip! She shared a variety of options based on what I needed and wanted. Not only that, though, she was extremely detail oriented! She made sure to find something that was close to transportation, restaurants, and close enough to the city center that we could walk to things but also took into consideration the prices of the area. I will absolutely be using Elaine again for my travel booking needs!

Elaine recommended this place because she was there on her honeymoon. And she was right on with her description of this beautiful place.

Working with Elaine was one of the best parts of planning this trip.
She was knowledgeable, responsive, and incredibly easy to work with from start to finish. Every question was answered quickly, every detail was handled professionally, and I always felt confident that everything was taken care of.
Travel can sometimes feel overwhelming, especially when coordinating reservations, schedules, and logistics, but Elaine made the entire process simple and stress-free. She offered helpful recommendations, communicated clearly, and made sure we had everything we needed before departure.
What impressed me most was her attention to detail and genuine commitment to making sure our vacation went smoothly. Because of her planning and guidance, we were able to focus on enjoying the experience rather than worrying about the details.
I would gladly work with Elaine again and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a travel advisor who is organized, knowledgeable, and truly invested in creating a great travel experience.

Inside Dwarika's Hotel: Kathmandu's Most Storied Luxury Stay
There is a version of luxury that just means more staff, more amenities, more polish. Dwarika's offers something else: a courtyard so quiet it seems to have opted out of the city entirely, built from centuries of hand-carved woodwork that one man refused to let disappear. We came to Kathmandu wanting different things, my husband hoping for rest, me hoping for something I couldn't yet name, and found both inside the same set of carved gates. It's a hotel that treats its own history as something to live inside, not something to display.

Why Inuyama Should Be on Your Japan Itinerary: Tranquility, Flavor & Tradition
I was drawn to Inuyama for its quiet charm and authentic atmosphere — a peaceful contrast to Japan’s bigger cities. It’s the kind of place where time feels like it slows down, whether you’re soaking in an onsen or strolling past centuries-old castle walls. The mix of tradition, nature and warm hospitality made it the perfect spot to relax before our cruise. And with Nagoya just a short train ride away, and Tokyo just a couple hours by bullet train, it’s easy to pair that laid-back feeling with big-city vibes.

Site Inspection at Argos in Cappadocia
I visited Argos in Cappadocia in the fall of 2024. It feels like a quaint town, offering tranquility and some of the most unique and stunning views I have experienced. Built into the landscapes formed by volcanic tuff, it blends ancient history with modern luxury. The staff's warmth created a truly special experience. Their cuisine features produce grown in their own gardens, complemented by an extensive wine cellar housed within a centuries-old chapel.

Virgin Voyages Trip Report: Greek Island Glow
This Virgin Voyages Greek Isle cruise blew me away. It wasn't your typical cruise — the atmosphere was electric, the entertainment phenomenal and there were no surprise fees. The ports on the itinerary were incredible. And let's not forget the amazing workout facilities and the fact that I could order champagne with a shake of my phone — anywhere on the ship! It was pure luxury.

Site Inspection at the Hyatt Regency Istanbul Ataköy
Living on the Asian side of Istanbul, sometimes we are looking for a place to stay a couple of nights on the European side to play tourist, but also to unwind. This luxurious hotel offers the perfect blend of relaxation and sightseeing. Couples will adore the romance, families enjoy spacious rooms and amenities. The breakfast is incredible – think traditional Turkish gözleme made fresh, alongside familiar American options. Plus, there's a gorgeous pool by the Marmara Sea with a pool bar and hammocks, and some rooms have access to a 16th-floor lounge with cocktail hour and all-day refreshments.

Istanbul's Fashion Playground: A Luxe & Local Adventure in Nisantasi, Teşvikiye and Maçka
Whether I am looking for a special gift or looking to socialize, Istanbul's Şişli district is one of my go-to areas in Istanbul. In these areas chic flagship stores brush shoulders with innovative ateliers, making it the perfect area for label lovers and trendsetters alike. But the allure reaches beyond retail therapy. In charming courtyards you will find cozy cafes, while on the rooftops you will find lively bars. Nisantasi, Teşvikiye and Maçka are not only neighborhoods for discerning shoppers in Istanbul; they are a group of lively modern neighborhoods with a rich history to be discovered.
