My Story
A career travel writer and guidebook author helping you find the unexpected and delightful.
My Travel Style
I’m an award-winning writer and author of several travel books. My work has appeared in Travel + Leisure, Food and Wine, Bon Appétit, the Chicago Tribune, and several others. I’ve also been to all seven continents and have spent many years booking my own trips. My career has focused on the Southeast and its undiscovered places, but I have spent time all over the world, and I use this to fuel my travel planning services. I like the off-the-beaten-path locales, where you can indulge your inner foodie and the destination’s arts and culture. I also specialize in spirits (hello Bourbon Trail!) and multigenerational travel.

Caroline is the best! Her extensive travel history is such an asset when heading to a new place. She made the booking process so easy and was such a valuable resource to us. We will be booking all our future trips with her!

A Whiskey-Soaked Weekend in Nashville and Beyond
You may have done the Kentucky Bourbon Trail, but the Tennessee Whiskey Trail is a nice alternative, where you can spend a few days taking in the sounds of the Music City before exploring the small towns and home to the biggest names in American whiskey, including none other than Jack Daniel. But smaller producers also make excellent products, including the native spirit set apart from bourbon. This trip also allows you to see the most beautiful scenery in Middle Tennessee.

A Quirky Tropical Weekend in Historic St. Augustine
I've visited St. Augustine several times, including as a budget traveler road-tripping the state, but this time around, I was here to check out a local music festival. During this trip, I was able to visit new-to-me spots like a local record store, a tropical-inspired bar, and a coffee shop that also functions as an antique store—two of my favorite things. This trip report highlights spots sure to be enjoyed by millennial travelers.
