Barcelona is one of Europe’s best cruise ports, but it deserves more than a quick transfer to or from the ship. I loved ending a transatlantic cruise here because it gave us time to slow down, see the city properly, and then trade the crowds for the coast. My favorite way to do Barcelona is a few thoughtful days in the city, followed by a true exhale on the Costa Brava.

Avignon surprised me in the best way. We stayed here before beginning our Rhône River cruise, expecting it to simply be a convenient pre-cruise stop, but it quickly became one of the highlights of the trip itself. Between the stone streets, hidden gardens, local markets, and incredible food scene, Avignon feels both deeply historic and effortlessly livable. It is the perfect place to slow down, reset, and ease into Provence before exploring the Rhône.

Savannah holds a special place in my heart because it beautifully combines rich history with a warm, welcoming atmosphere. During my voyage on the AmaDante in August 2023, the intimate feel of the ship charmed me. There's something uniquely captivating about traveling on a smaller vessel. Not only did it bring me closer to my fellow passengers and the attentive crew, but the ability to dock in quaint towns and the sense of tranquility onboard were simply unparalleled. The exclusivity of the events and the peace that came without the usual crowds just made my trip even more memorable.
