5 of the best hotels in Berlin

Read on for recs for the best Berlin hotels.

1. 25hours Hotel Bikini Berlin: a trendy boutique hotel overlooking Zoo Berlin & Europa-Center

Bikini Berlin is a fun and stylish boutique hotel offering artfully designed rooms and a “unique urban jungle” theme that plays on its proximity to Zoo Berlin and Kurfürstendamm Avenue (a.k.a. Ku’damm), the latter of which serves as one of the city’s most notable shopping and cultural hubs.

Guests can choose between urban- and “jungle-” (zoo) view rooms, all of which are uniquely furnished and boast varying tiers of high-end amenities. There’s also a dry sauna, a rooftop bar that regularly hosts DJs and live music — making this one of the best Berlin hotels for travelers seeking a more lively place to stay — and NENI Berlin, which offers small bites with a wide range of European influences (check out our foodie’s guide to Berlin for more options).

Fora Perks at Bikini Berlin:

  • Complimentary bike rentals.

  • Upgrade & guaranteed late check-out.

2. Hotel Adlon Kempinski Berlin: a gorgeous & elegant hotel near Berlin’s top landmarks

Barely a block away from Brandenburg Gate, in the most historical part of the city, Hotel Adlon Kempinski Berlin is a ritzy choice for discerning travelers who want five-star amenities and the convenience of being located near many of the city’s most impressive landmarks.

The rooms are lavishly decorated and furnished, with the best options leaning heavily on Old-World class while presenting excellent views of the landmarks surrounding Pariser Platz.

3. Michelberger Hotel: a cool hotel in Berlin’s lively Friedrichshain district

Located in one of Berlin’s most lively nightlife-slash-arts districts (read about the best things to do in Berlin), Michelberger Hotel is a great choice for travelers seeking casual, but nice, accommodations.

Berlin's famous East Side Gallery is in the immediate area — some of which dates back to the early years following Reunification — and there are also plenty of hip clubs, bars and venues. That being said, this Berlin hotel also caters to families and professionals, serving as a sort of catch-all option, with a variety of larger rooms and event spaces that larger groups will find comfortable.

Michelberger Hotel features a minimalist style that emphasizes contemporary decor and natural wood tones. It’s not as flashy as, say, Bikini Berlin, but that may be preferable for travelers who want more relaxing accommodations.

4. Orania.Berlin: centrally located and one of the most intimate Berlin hotels

One of the more luxurious Berlin hotels, Orania.Berlin has a sort of intimate, cosmopolitan vibe that matches the variety offered by the shops and restaurants found in its immediate vicinity.

The hotel is housed in a historic building that has served as everything from ordinary office space to a cabaret club to a clothing store to a nightclub called “Trash.” Orania.Berlin presents subtle homages to its past while embracing a contemporary interior design that’s intimate and homey, but not at the expense of sophistication.

Easily the most upscale Berlin hotel thus far (which is saying something considering how impressive Hotel Adlon Kempinski is), Hotel de Rome is grandiose in its delivery and exceptional in how well it pampers guests.

This Rocco Forte hotel lives up to the brand’s prestigious pedigree, providing illustrious decor that blends contemporary furnishings and decor with the elegance of more timeless styles. Likewise, the rooms, dining options and amenities — which include an indulgent spa housed in a former jewelry vault — are all top-tier.
