There are three lodging options to choose from when staying on property at Hershey, Pennsylvania - Hersheypark Camping Resort, Hershey Lodge (with indoor waterpark) and The Hotel Hershey. My family of three thought The Hotel Hershey was perfect!

Dining - We enjoyed a casual Italian-style dinner at Trevi 5. We loved the delicious breakfast buffet at The Circular, overlooking the formal gardens.

Recreation - The indoor pool was even better than the photos show and we had a blast in the game room. There are rock gardens, walking trails, a playground, disc golf, basketball, bocce ball and more.

Activities - The Hershey Gardens, included with our stay, was a lovely 23-acre space that we found relaxing to wander through. The Butterfly Atrium, home to hundreds of exotic butterflies, was a highlight. Our stay also included tickets to The Hershey Story Museum, where we enjoyed the interactive and informative exhibits detailing Hershey's history. Hershey's Chocolate World offered a free chocolate-making tour ride and an opportunity to shop at the World's Largest Hershey's store. For lunch, we indulged at The Chocolatier Restaurant's with appetizers served in a ferris wheel and decadent chocolate drinks and desserts.

Next time:
The Hersheypark amusement and water parks were closed during our visit, but we would like to try them next time. I would also love to try the spa with its chocolate-themed treatments. If we had more time, we would have tried the Chocolate Lab or Tastings experiences at the Hershey Story Museum. There is also the ZooAmerica Wildlife Park, which is home to more than 200 North American animals.

Need to know

We visited during the off season, in March, so the amusement and water parks were closed but we enjoyed our stay with fewer crowds and there was still plenty to see and do. We had the game room and beautiful indoor pool all to ourselves! The staff were consistently friendly and helpful throughout our stay. A bellman brought us ice for our cooler after overhearing my conversation with my husband, without us even needing to ask.
