Curator’s statement
Explora Journeys delivers a cruise experience so refined and unique, it has truly become my gold standard for luxury at sea. Their balance of celebrated destinations and charming hidden gems makes every journey one of a kind, but it’s the warm service, exquisite accommodations, and especially the outstanding dining that made this Istanbul to Athens voyage unforgettable.

Explora Journeys represents the very best of modern, relaxed luxury. From the moment you board, the atmosphere feels like a boutique retreat, never crowded or overwhelming. Spaces onboard are beautifully appointed, with the atrium pool offering a serene escape unlike anything I’ve experienced at sea.

The itineraries are thoughtful, blending famous, can’t-miss ports with lesser-known destinations that keep the trip feeling fresh and inspiring. This unique blend of popular and off-the-beaten-path locations makes every Explora voyage a true adventure.
But what sets Explora Journeys apart—more than anything—is the dining. Across dozens of cruises, this is hands-down my favorite culinary program onboard any ship. Each restaurant is intimate, so meals never feel rushed or assembly-line. Instead, dining is elevated to an art form, with creative menus, fresh ingredients, and a passion for hospitality that shows in every detail.
Dining onboard Explora Journeys is a highlight, with each venue offering a distinctive atmosphere and thoughtful cuisine. Meals are always paced for enjoyment, and the settings feel intimate rather than overwhelming.
Fil Rouge specializes in refined French cooking—think beautifully executed classics alongside inventive nightly soufflés that showcase creative flavors. The elegant room and attentive service make dinner here a special occasion. Sakura features Asian fusion dishes and sushi in a stylish, modern environment, perfect for leisurely dinners or sharing plates with friends. Med Yacht Club offers Mediterranean classics in a bright, relaxed setting, while Marble & Co. is Explora’s take on a sophisticated steakhouse with a focus on top-quality ingredients and refined presentations.
Emporium Marketplace is especially memorable. Open all day, this space is thoughtfully designed with natural light, sleek marble accents, and several open cooking stations. Guests can choose from a wide variety of global cuisines and freshly made specialties, while skilled chefs prepare dishes right in front of you.
While I didn’t have the chance to dine at Anthology—the ship’s upscale signature specialty restaurant—I’ve heard great feedback from fellow travelers about the elevated atmosphere and creative menus curated by guest chefs. It’s often highlighted as a “special-occasion” experience onboard, and many guests recommend making a reservation for at least one evening to enjoy the refined service and thoughtful culinary approach. I’m looking forward to trying it on a future sailing!
For dessert, The Gelateria & Creperie at The Conservatory is a favorite. It offers freshly made crepes and authentic Italian-style gelato, but I do wish they would extend the hours later into the evening.

Explora Journeys delivers a cruise experience that’s refined, relaxing, and refreshingly personal—especially for anyone who loves great food as much as discovering new destinations. From the understated luxury of the ship itself to the thoughtfully curated menus and attentive service, every detail feels intentional. I left this sailing feeling both inspired and completely recharged, with memories of incredible meals and quiet moments on deck. If you’re seeking a boutique-style cruise that blends culinary excellence, comfort, and a sense of travel adventure, Explora deserves to be at the top of your list.
Need to know
Entertainment is low-key and enrichment-oriented; the vibe is tranquil, not theatrical.
Bathrooms are elegant, but could be even more luxe to fully match the suite styling.
Advance reservations for Sakura, Anthology, and Marble & Co. are recommended.
