Hidden Gem Uncovered: How to Do Anguilla in 3 Days
Curator’s statement

My recent getaway to Anguilla was nothing short of unforgettable, and staying at Petit Topaz at Altamer Villas made it even more special. Tucked away on the quieter side of the island, this beautifully designed villa truly felt like a hidden gem in the Caribbean.

Day 1: Private paradise at Petit Topaz

From the moment we arrived, I was blown away by how peaceful and private everything felt. Petit Topaz is cozy yet elegant—perfect for couples or even a solo recharge. The villa is fully equipped with top-tier amenities: a private courtyard, a soothing Jacuzzi, comfy lounge chairs, a light-filled upstairs loft with a daybed, and a small kitchenette that made mornings effortless.

One of my favorite parts? A delicious continental breakfast delivered every morning—fresh fruit, pastries, juice, and coffee to start the day just right.

What really stood out to me was the incredible customer service. Every staff member we encountered was warm, welcoming, and genuinely dedicated to ensuring we had the best experience. It truly felt like they went out of their way to make us feel at home.

The bedroom was beautifully styled and opened directly into the courtyard, so I could literally roll out of bed and relax in the warm Jacuzzi with a coffee in hand. I also appreciated the thoughtful touches like daily housekeeping, complimentary beach chairs, and access to the resort’s tennis court, gym, and concierge services. Just a short walk away was a serene pool—perfect for a refreshing dip with a view.

Day 2: Exploring the island

We rented a car through the hotel (which was delivered to us) to begin our three-day island adventure.

As incredible as the villa was, exploring Anguilla was just as magical. We spent the day discovering nearby beaches and hidden gems that absolutely blew us away.

Shoal Bay was stunning—picture-perfect turquoise water and powder-soft sand. It’s easily one of the most beautiful beaches I’ve ever seen. Then there was Little Bay, a secluded spot tucked between cliffs. We took a boat over and got to experience some of the best snorkeling I’ve ever done—colorful fish, crystal-clear water, and the peaceful feeling of being surrounded by nature.

There are fantastic places to eat all over Anguilla, with something for every taste. Shoal Bay, in particular, has a great variety of beachfront spots. One standout was The Blue Bar, located in Crocus Bay, just up the hill overlooking the ocean. It’s the perfect place to catch stunning sunset views, enjoy live evening entertainment, and savor their fresh, wood-fired pizza.

Dining on the island ranges from casual to slightly upscale—though nothing too formal. Just keep in mind that some restaurants have limited hours or are only open on certain days, with many not opening until 5 pm or later. It’s always a good idea to check ahead.

Day 3: Final adventures & lasting memories

We took a day trip to Sandy Island, a tiny sandbar out in the water that felt like our own private island for the afternoon. It was surreal—just us, the sea breeze, and 360 degrees of Caribbean beauty.

One of the absolute highlights of the trip was night kayaking in a glass-bottomed kayak at Little Bay. The water lit up beneath us with the glow of our kayak lights, and we watched sea turtles swim gracefully below. It was peaceful, mesmerizing, and hands down one of the most memorable things I’ve ever done on vacation.

Before heading to the airport, we squeezed in a visit to The Arch, a natural rock formation just a five-minute drive from the villa. It’s quiet, dramatic, and an easy little excursion if you want to explore beyond the beach.
