Curator’s statement
In January of 2025, I attended a familiarization trip at the amazing Club Med in Cancun, Mexico. The resort is full of wonderful and attentive staff, affectionately called GO’s or Gentle Organizers in the brand language, ready to help you and your family enjoy Cancun and the Club Med property to the fullest. I would recommend this property to families looking for a property that is immersed in local culture and full of things to do, see and experience.

The Club Med Cancun property is located on the tip of the Riviera Maya in Mexico with three separate beaches on property. Club Med Cancun is also situated next to the world’s second largest coral reef, and is located about 15 minutes from the Cancun airport.
After a short ride from the airport, we arrived and checked into the Aguamarina building in a Family Oasis Deluxe Oceanfront Room, which is the family section of the resort. The process was quick, and each of us were given a Club Med bracelet, which was also the room key that we wore throughout our visit. We had already downloaded the Club Med app before arrival, which is a great way to keep track of upcoming events, activities and fun resort happenings.

The Family Oasis Deluxe Oceanfront room is plenty big enough for a family of four. It has a separate bedroom with two twin beds and its own bathroom for the kids. The main bedroom is separated by a hallway and has a door for privacy. It has a full window wall with a sliding door and direct access to a walkway leading to the beach. There is a mini fridge stocked with soda and juices and a few snacks for the kids, and plenty of outlets for charging cords.

We quickly changed and made our way to the family pool for some sun and relaxation. The Aguamarina Pool is large and equipped with a kiddie pool and splash pad for the younger visitors. There are plenty of pool chairs to go around, and access to several pod-type cabanas that do not require a reservation. There is also a pool bar with attentive service, great drinks and light snacks like ceviche and sandwiches.

At dinner time, we made our way to the main restaurant, The Hacienda, located at the center of the resort, which is a 5-minute golf cart ride away from Aguamarina. You can also walk too, which we did as soon as we got a feel for the property. The Hacienda is a buffet-style restaurant with offerings to satisfy almost any taste. There are also two additional specialty dinner options that require reservations: Taco Arte and The Estancia - both were a wonderful experience. Taco Arte does not require reservations for breakfast or lunch and is where we had breakfast on most days. The open-air concept and water views were amazing.
Need to know
Club Med Cancun is a lovely and authentic resort in the Riviera Maya. While 70% of guests are families, there are still many activities for multi-gen groups, singles and couples to enjoy. For visitors wanting a more exclusive experience, the resort has a separate luxury space equipped with upgraded rooms and suites, a dedicated concierge, private resort transfers and an exclusive pool space and lounge bar. There is a also a resort spa onsite for all guests to enjoy.
The resort has an active feel to it, and there is always something to do onsite. Because Club Med is all-inclusive, the food, drinks, daily activities, kids clubs, shows and lessons are all included. The brand new pickleball courts are brimming with friendly competition and are very amusing to observe. During our visit, we were able to watch two wonderful shows in the theater, snorkel the reef and we even learned a few new dances. The nightly shows in the center of the resort are well choreographed and worth staying out after dinner for.
If you are traveling with kids, Club Med has you covered. There is a full water park with water slides and a fun kids play area. There is also a sports and wellness island with activities for older kids like circus school, archery, bungee, trampoline, mini golf and bocce ball. For the younger travelers, the baby and kids club facilities are brand new and well-staffed. They include daily workshops for the kids, nature walks, water park access and a baby gym. Childcare is included for kids four and up, and available for purchase for children under four. The baby services cost is about $94/day for babies 0-2 and $83/day for kids 2-3 years old.
I would recommend the Club Med Cancun for active families and groups looking for an authentic and immersive all-inclusive experience in Cancun, Mexico. I would recommend another property for travelers looking to stay at a modern resort in Cancun.
