Curator’s statement
As a mother of two young children—a 3-year-old and an almost 2-year-old—travel has become an ongoing adventure. While I still love exploring the world, my once-treasured leisurely seaside afternoons and endless aperitivi at sunset are now a bit more fleeting. That said, my children haven’t exactly cramped my style. My older daughter has been to Italy five times, and my younger son three times; at one point, he had spent more of his life abroad than in our New Jersey home. Because of this, clients constantly ask me: What is your favorite family resort in Italy? My answer is always the same—hands down, Borgo Egnazia. And with new direct flights hitting the calendar from the US to Bari, it’s an easier win than ever!

While Borgo Egnazia attracts couples, retirees, and groups of adult friends, it offers a wide range of experiences, many of which are exceptionally well suited to families. The resort allows families to immerse themselves in Puglian culture together, while also giving parents the freedom to enjoy time on their own—whether at the spa, beach, golf course, tennis courts, or cycling through the countryside—thanks to the property’s truly outstanding childcare.
Here are just a few of the reasons I love it:
1. Incredible kids’ clubs for every age
When I first walked into the Trullalleri Kids’ Club with my daughter, who was 18 months old at the time, I was completely overwhelmed (in the best way). The sheer volume of toys, activities, and dedicated one-to-one staff exceeded even the best daycares in the Tri-State Area.
After a brief conversation with the lead caregiver and enrolling my daughter for the afternoon, I was asked what she would like for lunch and presented with a curated list of signature dishes from one of the resort’s best restaurants—everything from pasta and fish to lasagna verde (which the staff gently advised against, as mozzarella can be tricky for babies).
My daughter loved it so much that she actually fought me when it was time to leave.
As children grow, Borgo Egnazia offers additional age-specific clubs featuring crafts, treasure hunts, sports, and group activities. The entire program is thoughtfully designed to allow parents to enjoy a truly carefree stay, if they choose to.
2. Babysitting services
In addition to the kids’ clubs, in-room babysitting services are available à la carte. This is invaluable for parents who want to enjoy a classic Italian dinner, perhaps one that starts at 9 pm and includes several courses, after putting the children to bed.
Many of the on-property villas even include babysitting as part of the stay, which is a wonderful and thoughtful perk.

3. Beautiful beaches & safe water fun
The resort features two beach clubs and two main pools—one designed specifically for families and another reserved for adults only. This thoughtful separation means families can relax without worrying about disturbing honeymooners or retirees, who also adore Borgo Egnazia.
Both the family pool and beach areas have nearby children’s playgrounds as well. It truly feels as though every detail has been considered.

4. Fun, educational activities
Beyond standard kids’ club programming, Borgo Egnazia offers enriching, culturally rooted experiences, especially appealing as children grow into their teenage years. These include:
Cooking classes tailored for children (such as pasta-making)
Visits to the resort’s small farm with friendly animals
Country bike rides (complete with child seats and helmets) and treasure hunts throughout the property

Friendly donkeys at the on-site farm

5. Child-focused dining
In addition to the elevated children’s menus offered through the kids’ clubs, the resort features a dedicated children’s restaurant, Da Pucetta, with menus, seating, and service designed entirely for young guests.
Across the resort, restaurants thoughtfully pre-set tables with high chairs or boosters, along with child-friendly utensils, so families can sit down and enjoy their meal immediately. And of course, the charming ice cream shop in the center of the village is always a hit.
6. Family-friendly accommodations
Spacious rooms, casette (house-style units), and villas make it easy for families to stay comfortably together, with options for extra beds, kitchens, and outdoor space.
When booking a villa, my clients receive an array of thoughtful perks designed to simplify family travel, ranging from in-room diaper pails and daily breakfast prepared in the villa, to laundry service, private pools, rooftop terraces with panoramic countryside views, and a 24/7 concierge who communicates via WhatsApp and truly acts as a personal butler.
My own family stayed in a villa, and it remains one of the most memorable accommodations we’ve ever experienced. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

7. Evening entertainment for all ages
Nightly entertainment, like performances and shows in the Borgo’s main piazza, keeps families engaged during and after dinner. These events showcase local culture in a way that genuinely sets Borgo Egnazia apart from other luxury hotels in Italy and are especially magical as children grow older and want a taste of Puglian nightlife.

8. A walkable village design
Spread across more than 40 acres, the resort is designed to resemble a traditional Italian village. It is safe, pedestrian-friendly, and easy to navigate, allowing children to explore freely while parents relax.

Need to know
Borgo Egnazia is much more than a beautiful resort. It is a unique destination that is sought after by all types of travelers, ranging from celebrities to honeymooners to politicians, and (most notably for me) families. It thoughtfully integrates children’s engagement, cultural experiences, and genuine Italian hospitality into every aspect of the stay. That’s why I consider it among Italy’s best choices for a multi-age family vacation. While there are endless amounts of activities and things to see and do around the region of Puglia (Polignano, cheese-making, Monopoli, trulli, beaches, caves—the list goes on and on and on), Borgo Egnazia is so immense and multifaceted that kids (and their parents) will never get bored.
