Azure Hot Springs Resort offers an array of exceptional wellness options. Start your morning by soaking in one of the five hot tubs while sipping coffee and taking in the breathtaking views of Mount San Jacinto. Afterward, enjoy a delicious quiche for breakfast at the café. Then embark on a nearby hike or slip into your swimsuit for a relaxing day by the pool under the sun.

Late afternoon is perfect for indulging in a rejuvenating spa service — be sure to ask for Asia! After dinner, unwind with another soak in the mineral tubs, followed by a relaxing session in the dry sauna. Conclude your evening by stepping into the ice room to close your pores and enjoy an evening meditation in the Himalayan Salt room before stepping into bed.
Guest rooms
There are a variety of guest rooms to choose from on the property. From a basic standard room (no view), options with a balcony and a view of Mount San Jacinto, as well as beautiful suites with private soaking tubs. If you are looking to elevate your experience and have a bit more privacy, the Hideaway Mountain View King is a great choice. Only two available on property, these rooms have a private staircase and feature a “belltower” balcony. This perch sits on the highest point at the resort and overlooks pretty much everything.

If luxury and space is what you are seeking, you may want to opt for a suite. The Spa suites (King and King/Queen) both offer private concrete soaking tubs. One step up in both space and views, the Santa Rosa suite offers a corner view of the Santa Rosa Mountain Range. It includes a gas fireplace and an extra-large concrete soaking tub. On the west side, the Sunset Suite has beautiful views of Mt. San Gorgonio, as well as an in-suite infrared sauna and a two-person European style soaking tub.
Each room features Bluetooth stereos, a refrigerator and a TV-free environment to ensure a relaxing screen-free stay. Azure is an adult-only property (no one under 17 is permitted). Overnight guests receive access to all of the mineral water pools (indoor and outdoor), saunas and 24-hour access to the Himalayan Salt Room and Desert Ice Room. Each guest room is equipped with robes and rubber slippers to wear while you roam around the property during your stay.
The water
The mineral spring water of Desert Hot Springs is world-renowned. Azure Hot Springs Resort is the only place in Southern California where you can fully experience its healing properties. Unlike other mineral springs, this water is crystal clear, silky to the touch and completely odorless — free of any sulfur smells. Azure's wells are the hottest in the region. The temperature of the water rises from deep within the Earth’s fissures at an impressive 174 degrees. Rich in hundreds of trace minerals such as potassium, calcium, magnesium, and phosphorus, this rejuvenating water promotes relaxation and revitalization. The water is so good for you, you can even drink it from the tap, and it is recommended during your stay.

Mirage Tub; Andreas Tub
The outside Oasis (closes at 9 pm) offers five small soaking tubs with beautiful views of the Santa Rosa mountain range. Each soaking tub comfortably fits two to five people. Along side the tubs is a reflexology walk to help improve circulation and reduce stress, as well as a large Finnish dry sauna.
The grounds
On the pool deck, guests can unwind on a selection of loungers, available in both shaded and sunlit options. The pool is heated and filled with the same mineral-rich water as the outdoor soaking tubs. Additionally, there are two jetted hot tubs outside, along with a larger jetted tub and a smaller dry sauna indoors next to the men’s and women’s locker rooms.

Indoor Hot Tub; Outdoor Hot Tub
Azure also offers an indoor yoga space, equipped with mats and blocks. Mat pilates, yoga and meditation classes are offered over the weekends. Complimentary video yoga at 11 am and 4:30 pm is available Monday through Thursday.
The Himalayan Salt Room and Desert Ice Room
Exclusively for overnight guests, the Himalayan Salt Room and Desert Ice Room are accessible 24 hours a day. Often referred to as salt therapy or halotherapy, this space utilizes the healing properties of Himalayan salt to promote wellness. Salt therapy provides a variety of benefits. This includes detoxification by extracting toxins through the skin and respiratory system, relief from respiratory conditions like asthma and allergies, skin hydration and improved sleep quality. The serene environment of the salt room, combined with the negative ions released by the salt, encourages relaxation and alleviates stress and anxiety.

The Himalayan Salt Room; Desert Ice Room
Cryotherapy rooms, also known as ice rooms, have gained popularity in wellness and recovery environments. These rooms are specifically designed to subject the body to extremely low temperatures for brief periods. This short-term exposure triggers a range of benefits, including reduced inflammation, pain alleviation, enhanced muscle function, decreased muscle soreness and improved blood circulation, which can lead to improved skin appearance and tone. Additionally, spending time in an ice room can help combat fatigue, increase energy levels and elevate mood, promoting overall well-being.
Day spa
The day spa features more than 35 treatments, including massages, facials, body wraps and scrubs. I particularly recommend the Customized Massage, or for a deeper relaxation experience, the Signature Swedish Massage. It incorporates Desert Sage aromatherapy and a soothing scalp massage. Another favorite is the Desert Sage Gemstone Clay Wrap. It is known for its benefits in reducing inflammation, promoting muscle relaxation and detoxifying the body. My therapist, Asia, was exceptional and provided a phenomenal experience.
The cafe
From breakfast to lunch all the way through dinner, each meal here (and coffee) was amazing. I had the Super Green juice and Keto Quiche for breakfast both days and the chia pudding was a great snack. Sitting poolside for the day, I opted for a fresh salad. The highly-recommended Green Goddess with Ahi Tuna did not disappoint — although I would suggest adding avocado for extra creaminess. With the cafe closing at 7 pm (though grab-and-go options are available until 11 pm), I opted for an early dinner. I chose the Sesame Seared Wild-Caught Tuna bowl, with the Thai almond sauce — delicious. Unfortunately, I was too full to try the Flourless Chocolate cake, but it's definitely on my list for next time.
For a more romantic, upscale or gourmet dining experience, consider venturing into Palm Springs, which offers a wide range of exceptional restaurants. Unfortunately, Desert Hot Springs has limited options for fine dining, making Palm Springs the ideal destination for those seeking more choices.

Need to know
Guests can enjoy the resort's heated swimming pools, rejuvenating spa services, hot springs and well-maintained gardens. Additionally, the location provides easy access to hiking trails, golf courses, vibrant art districts and an array of shopping and dining options in the charming Palm Springs area.
If lounging poolside or enjoying spa services isn't at the top of your agenda, there are plenty of activities to explore in the area. Palm Springs is just a 20-minute drive away, and within the city, you'll find two fantastic hiking spots: Indian Canyons and Tahquitz Canyon. Another great option is to take the Palm Springs Tramway. It transports you to the summit of San Jacinto, offering additional hiking trails at a higher elevation. For more details on hiking and other outdoor adventures, be sure to check out my Wellness Lover's Guide to Palm Springs article.
Fifteen minutes from Desert Hot Springs, the Thousand Palm Oasis Preserve offers great walking and short hiking trails among the second-largest California Fan Palm Oasis.
Joshua Tree is conveniently located nearby, just a 30 to 45-minute drive to either entrance. If you plan to explore the park, set aside a full day for your adventure. I recommend starting in Joshua Tree's town and entering the park from that side, finishing at Cottonwood Springs. As you drive through, take your time and make sure to stop frequently to explore the short loops and trails scattered throughout the park.
