First of all, this is a new hotel, just over 6 months old so everything is in pristine condition. It is the only 5 star hotel in the area other than the Ritz Carlton which is much older/dated, making it a great option for clients that want a more hip/young luxury hotel.

Location: downtown LA / Bunker Hill neighborhood. The hotel is directly across from the Walt Disney Concert Hall designed by Frank Gerry who also designed the Conrad’s building. Compared to the LA live district where the convention center is, this location has a lot less traffic and is much safer according the sales manager that toured me. It is close to Little Tokyo for those that enjoy Asian cuisine as well as the arts district.

Vibe: I loved the vibe of this property, which was designed by Tara Bernard. While the rooms are modern, the common areas feature a bold and contemporary interior design. The interiors draw inspiration from the architecture of downtown LA and it’s vibrant art scene. Tiles and artwork throughout the lobby and bar were crafted by local artists, which I found very special and unique to the hotel!

Rooms: There are 305 guest rooms, including three penthouses. There are five room categories: Deluxe, Premium, Studio, Suite and Penthouse, ranging from $400 per night to $7K per night (largest penthouse at 1,500 square feet.) The penthouses have terraces which is unique to this specific property! All of the King rooms are 350 square feet and include a sectional couch/ same amenities. My favorite features were the full blackout shades and motion sensor lights under the bed. Another unique feature is that the Conrad is one of the only hotels that has windows that open in the rooms! Every room has a nespresso machine and pods to choose from. They also include tea kettles in each room.

Restaurants & Bars: The Conrad LA is a cuisine destination since both its restaurants, San Laurel and Agua Viva, are by Chef Jose Andres and ThinkFoodGroup. Bazaar Eats, a third restaurant by Andres is slated to open this summer along with multiple boutiques/shops at the hotel. In addition to the restaurants that have their own bars, there are two additional bars inside the hotel, so there are ample options of places to sit and mingle as a guest.

Amenities: There is a heated outdoor pool with 50 chairs and seven cabanas that is open year round. There is also a wonderful spa I visited where I experienced their recovery pods. This was a 30 minute meditation paired with leg massage on a heated pad. I loved it!

Clientele: Due to its location in the financial district, the hotel is filled with business traveler’s during the week and lots of staycations on the weekend. If your clients are into music and art, it would be a great option. The best time to visit is the summer since the pool is the top attraction.

bathroom with shower and essentials
double bed room
double sink for couples
patio terrace for view gazing

The hospitality and service was amazing during my stay. This is the only Conrad in California, which is pretty cool! The bed was ultra comfy and I loved how modern and tech forward the rooms were. I would recommend the Conrad LA to my friends and family any day!
