The Royal Caribbean Utopia was easily my favorite Royal cruise yet. The ship is stunning and full of energy, from incredible entertainment to dining that surprised me at every turn. One of my favorite moments was chatting with a crew member who remembered our names the entire trip, which made the experience feel so personal. Also, our stop at Perfect Day at CocoCay truly lived up to the hype: great food, crystal-clear water, and just the right mix of adventure and relaxation. It’s the perfect getaway for anyone wanting a short but spectacular escape.

Royal Caribbean’s Perfect Day at CocoCay truly lives up to its name—it’s the ideal mix of relaxation, adventure, and pure fun under the sun.
Coming from the Utopia of the Seas, the transition onto the island felt seamless, and you really notice how well the ship’s energy carries over. Whether you’re lounging by the water, floating in the Caribbean’s largest freshwater pool, or braving the tallest waterslide in North America, CocoCay has a little something for every mood.

The island
One thing that stood out to me was how intentionally the island is designed. Even with a completely booked sailing, it never felt crowded. We walked straight up to bars with no wait, grabbed shaded loungers without searching, and had plenty of room to wander between Chill Island, the Oasis Lagoon, and the DJ at the pool. The flow of the island made the whole day feel easy.
Relaxation
Highlights
A personal highlight: at Oasis Lagoon, one of the bartenders convinced us to try a “surprise drink,” and it ended up being the best cocktail of the trip. We stayed in the water talking with other guests for almost an hour, which was one of those unplanned moments that made the day feel special.
And later, at Chill Island, we found a quiet corner where we could hear the ocean more than the music, which was the perfect mid-day break before heading back to the ship for evening activities.

Accessibility & logistics
Accessibility and logistics were also smooth. Getting on and off Utopia was quick, and the staff went out of their way to help guests who needed extra support. The trams and wide walkways made exploring simple, even after spending hours in the sun.

I highly recommend Perfect Day at CocoCay for couples, families, or friend groups looking for an effortless island day. Whether you want thrills, calm beaches, or just a carefree escape, CocoCay delivers exactly what its name promises: a truly perfect day.

Need to know
Bring plenty of sunscreen and a hat. The Bahamian sun is strong, and you’ll be spending most of your day outdoors.
A lightweight day bag or backpack is great for carrying essentials like your book, water, and a change of clothes if you plan to enjoy both the beach and pool areas. I also recommend wearing water shoes for comfort when walking between sandy and paved areas, and packing a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated throughout the day.
Hand sanitizer and sanitizing wipes are handy for quick clean-ups between activities or meals.
Finally, don’t forget your camera. There are countless photo-worthy spots around the island!
