Curator’s statement
This destination feels special because it captures everything I love about the New England coast: dramatic ocean views, fresh sea air, and that peaceful feeling of being close to the water. Cliff House Maine has a way of making you slow down and take in the beauty around you. After traveling from coast to coast, arriving here felt grounding, restorative, and exactly like the kind of place that reminds me why coastal escapes are so meaningful.

Cliff House Maine is one of those properties where the setting does so much of the storytelling. Perched along the dramatic Maine coastline near Ogunquit, the resort delivers that classic New England coastal feeling immediately: rocky cliffs, wide-open ocean views, fresh sea air, and a sense of calm that makes you want to slow down. The view is truly the star here, and I think that is what makes the property feel so memorable. It is not just a place to sleep; it is a place to exhale.

One of my favorite aspects of the stay was how quickly the property created a sense of arrival. From the friendly valet to the warm front desk experience and helpful bell service, the arrival felt smooth and welcoming. Walking into the hotel and seeing the ocean makes an instant impression, and small touches like the convenient coffee station added to the overall ease of the stay. For clients who appreciate scenery, comfort, and a relaxed luxury feel, Cliff House offers a beautiful balance of elevated hospitality and natural beauty.

I would recommend this property especially for couples, milestone celebrations, mother-daughter trips, girlfriend getaways, wellness-focused travelers, and anyone seeking a coastal escape without sacrificing resort amenities. It would also be a strong fit for clients who want to explore the Ogunquit and York area while staying somewhere that feels tucked away and scenic. My recommendation would be to build in time simply to enjoy the property—have coffee with the view, walk the grounds, book spa time if that is a priority, and plan at least one meal where the ocean can be part of the experience.

For travelers who like to get out and explore, nearby Ogunquit offers the charm of a classic Maine beach town, including coastal walks, local dining, galleries, shops, and easy access to Perkins Cove and the Marginal Way. But the beauty of Cliff House is that it can be as active or as restful as a client wants. Some travelers will use it as a base for exploring Southern Maine, while others may be happiest staying close to the resort, watching the water, and letting the coastline do what it does best.

Need to know
Travelers should know that Cliff House Maine is best enjoyed when you build in time to actually be at the property. This is not a place I would treat as just a home base for sleeping—the views, pools, fire pits, spa, coffee stations, and oceanfront setting are a big part of the experience. I would recommend arriving early if possible, packing layers for changing coastal weather, and requesting a room or suite with the strongest ocean view your budget allows.
The resort is located in Cape Neddick, between Ogunquit and York, so clients should understand that it feels peaceful and tucked away rather than directly in the middle of town. Having a car is helpful if you want to explore Ogunquit, Perkins Cove, the Marginal Way, York, or nearby beaches and restaurants. I would especially encourage travelers to make time for the Marginal Way coastal walk and Perkins Cove, both of which offer that classic Maine seaside charm.
For families, it is worth noting that some pool areas and amenities may vary by season or age restrictions, so travelers should confirm what is open during their specific dates. For couples or adults looking for a quieter escape, the resort can feel especially restorative outside of the busiest summer travel periods. Spa and dining reservations are also worth making in advance, especially during peak season or weekend stays.
My biggest advice: Do not over-schedule. The magic of Cliff House is in the slow moments—coffee with an ocean view, listening to the waves, walking the grounds, sitting by the fire pits, and letting the coastline set the pace.
