Curator’s statement
From the moment I arrived at Paradisus La Perla, I could tell this was a resort built for relaxation, connection, and ease. This 18+ adults-only, all-inclusive property in Playa del Carmen feels intimate and refined, yet never pretentious. The lush landscaping, warm hospitality, and laid-back energy make it a standout option for couples, friends, or solo travelers looking for something peaceful but polished. An added bonus? It’s pet-friendly for small dogs (with a $100 pet fee), so your four-legged travel companion can enjoy paradise too.

Trip overview
Although the property is 14 years old, it’s impressively well-kept and still feels fresh. The design combines modern comfort with tropical warmth, and I noticed how spotless everything was—from the hallways to the pool decks. Even small touches like the daily turndown service reminded me how much emphasis the staff place on making every guest feel cared for.

Accommodations
The rooms are divided between the main resort and The Reserve, Paradisus’ upgraded, club-level experience. In the main section, guests can choose from Junior Suites, Suites, and Master Suites, while The Reserve offers the same categories with added benefits and elevated touches.
Every suite includes a jacuzzi tub, and many feature swim-up access, which is such a fun perk for guests who love being right in the water. While all rooms technically have water views, they overlook the resort’s sparkling pools rather than the ocean—this is due to the hurricane barrier along this stretch of coastline. Still, the lush greenery and shimmering pool views create a private, tranquil atmosphere throughout the property.

The two-bedroom Master Suite is perfect for small groups or friends traveling together. It’s technically a connecting suite—the only one on property—and guests who want the full luxury experience can add Reserve benefits by contacting the hotel directly. It’s a great option for those who want more space without missing out on the Reserve exclusives.
The Reserve experience
If you’re looking for an elevated stay, The Reserve experience takes everything up a notch. Guests enjoy private check-in, access to hydrotherapy once per stay, and a guaranteed dinner reservation at the resort’s signature restaurant, Sal, known as the “steak cave.” Reserve guests also receive a complimentary Cenote experience and personalized concierge service throughout their stay.

The cenote that you get to visit as part of the Reserve room category.
I had the chance to dine at Sal, and it was a phenomenal experience. The space feels intimate and stylish, and the food was outstanding—easily one of the best meals I’ve had at an all-inclusive resort. Every dish was beautifully presented and full of flavor, and the staff made the evening feel truly special. It’s one of those dining moments that stays with you long after the trip.
Dinner reservations are required at all à la carte restaurants, which helps ensure a calm and well-paced dining experience. Service everywhere I ate was consistently warm and attentive.
Dining highlights
During my stay, I also tried the buffet at the adjoining family-friendly resort, Paradisus Playa del Carmen, which is connected directly to La Perla. Guests staying at La Perla have shared privileges at both properties, meaning adults can enjoy all the dining options and amenities across both resorts.
The buffet was a pleasant surprise—it was genuinely delicious and far exceeded my expectations for an all-inclusive. The quality and variety were impressive, from fresh seafood and grilled meats to beautifully prepared local dishes. It’s a great option for a casual meal that still feels thoughtfully curated.
Beach & atmosphere
The beachfront at La Perla faces the island of Cozumel, offering a beautiful backdrop for morning walks or sunset lounging. The sand is soft, the water is clear, and the staff cleans the beach every morning to keep it pristine. They also work diligently to manage sargassum, which can sometimes appear along this coastline, ensuring guests can enjoy the beach without issue.
One of my favorite things about this property is its sense of seclusion. La Perla is the only resort in this particular area, giving it a private and exclusive feel that’s hard to find in Playa del Carmen. Whether relaxing by the pool, enjoying dinner at Sal, or unwinding on the beach, it always felt peaceful and uncrowded.

In sum
Paradisus La Perla is the perfect blend of calm, comfort, and elevated service. The Reserve upgrade is absolutely worth it for the added perks, exclusive dining access, and overall elevated experience—especially for travelers who appreciate a more personalized touch. The shared privileges with the family-friendly side offer even more variety without taking away from the adults-only serenity.
Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or simply need a luxurious reset, La Perla is the kind of place that invites you to slow down, savor the details, and let yourself be fully cared for.
