I did this with my kids a few years back and they still bring it up—which, if you travel with kids, you know is the ultimate stamp of approval. Forget the “don’t touch that” museum vibe—this is hands-on, jump-in, play-in-the-streets fun.
Our guide, Desha, grew up inside the city walls, and from the moment she greeted us at Buža Gate holding that signature red ball, we knew we were getting the real Dubrovnik. She’s warm, funny, and has the kind of insider stories that make you feel like you’re tagging along with a local friend—just one who also happens to be a fantastic storyteller.

We explored hidden alleys, learned the secret “neighborhood rules,” and got the inside scoop on childhood rivalries that once existed within these ancient walls. And yes—we all played childhood street games. Parents included. There will be friendly competition, and I fully support unleashing your inner kid.
Two standout moments:
The legendary basketball court: Hands down one of the coolest, most unexpected sights in Dubrovnik—an open-air court tucked inside centuries-old stone walls, with views over the Adriatic. My kids were mesmerized. Honestly, so was I.

The Maskers challenge: Think local childhood games and tourist pride on the line. Spoiler: the adults got way more invested than the kids—and the laughter was worth it.
What I love most: this isn’t a history lecture dressed as a tour. It’s playful, it’s personal, and it brings the Old City to life in a way that’s memorable. You get culture, humor, movement, stories, and real connection—not another crowd-following experience.
And the best part? Both kids and parents will genuinely have fun.
Not “we’ll power through this for the kids” fun—the real, everyone-laughing, “did we just play a street game in a UNESCO site?” kind of fun.

Easy walking, all ages welcome, zero stress. You leave with great memories and a new way of seeing Dubrovnik: not just as a historic marvel, but as a place full of childhood magic and everyday joy.
Meet at Buža Gate, follow the red ball, and get ready to play your way through history.
