Curator’s statement
This 15-day Honolulu to Sydney cruise is, without doubt, one of the world’s most remarkable itineraries. So much so that I have crossed with this itinerary three times because it is so special. This itinerary only happens once a year in each direction, so being a part of it is a special experience not many will experience. The voyage offers a perfect balance of breathtaking destinations and serene days at sea, creating a rhythm that is both adventurous and relaxing. My vacation is as much about relaxation as it is about the destinations. I spend my days lounging by the pool, indulging in spa treatments, and enjoying gourmet dining and specialty restaurants (more than I should). The ship offers a calendar each day of enrichment lectures, fitness classes, and entertainment, while quiet corners and ocean-view decks are perfect for reading, journaling, or simply soaking in the endless Pacific horizon.

Stunning French Polynesia
My journey begins with five sea days before arriving for three days in French Polynesia (Tahiti, Moorea, and Raiatea), where I immersed myself in turquoise lagoons, cascading waterfalls, and the vibrant warmth of Polynesian culture. After another five days at sea, we arrived on the North Island of New Zealand for two days. The North Island ports showcase dramatic landscapes and welcoming coastal towns. The GRAND FINALE is breathtaking. As the sun rises and the water begins to glisten, we sail into Sydney Harbor, greeted by the magnificent Opera House and Harbor Bridge. This vacation is a constant mix of exhilaration, wonder, and pure joy that makes every moment of this journey unforgettable. It is a trip of pure magic that is unforgettable every single time.
I always find myself drawn beyond the busy streets of Papeete on Tahiti. The market is wonderful for a taste of local life with bright tropical flowers, fragrant vanilla, and fresh fish, but the island really shines when you head inland with waterfalls cascading down lush green cliffs and ancient marae (sacred ceremonial space) tucked quietly into the landscape.
Moorea is a South Pacific dream, with jagged volcanic peaks and a lagoon so clear you can see rays and reef sharks gliding gracefully beneath you. I love hiking up to Belvedere Lookout for that famous view of Cook’s Bay.

There’s plenty to do on sea days!
Riaatea/Taha’a, the “Vanilla Island,” offers a completely different experience and has become one of my favorite islands. The air is sprinkled with vanilla, and visiting a plantation to see how it’s cultivated is unforgettable. Taha’a is wonderfully unspoiled, it’s tiny motus are filled with powdery sand, brilliant coral gardens perfect for snorkeling, and a sense of peace that feels worlds away from the bustle of everyday life.

A helicopter flight over the Bay of Islands gives you a view to remember!
At Taurunga, I took an over-sized motorcycle tour along the scenic coastal roads, allowing me to explore the beaches, cliffs, and countryside with an unforgettable sense of freedom.
As the last few days of this incredible vacation began to wind down, I boarded a helicopter ride for a stunning bird’s-eye view of the sparkling waters, hidden coves, and famous Hole in the Rock while spotting playful dolphins and hundreds is small island that make up the Bay of Islands.

Some of the best wines are from New Zealand

Nothing beats the view in Sydney Harbor
Need to know
With so many sea days, I’ve discovered that the voyage itself can be just as rewarding as the destinations. I spend mornings on my balcony watching the Pacific unfold, afternoons enjoying onboard enrichment classes or spa treatments, and evenings savoring gourmet dining while the sun sets over the endless Pacific.
Time at sea is a rare chance to slow down, reflect, and soak in the rhythm of life on the ocean.
Planning ahead is key. In Tahiti, Moorea, and Raiatea, I always prioritize private tours or small-group adventures, whether it’s snorkeling in a turquoise lagoon, visiting a vanilla plantation, or exploring ancient marae.
In New Zealand, helicopter rides over the Bay of Islands and scenic motorcycle tours around Tauranga and Mount Maunganui reveal perspectives you won’t see from the ship.
I recommend balancing busy days ashore with relaxing sea days. Long voyages are a marathon, and pacing yourself ensures every experience feels fresh.
Little details make a big difference. Balcony cabins allow for private ocean views that make every sea day feel magical, and layering clothing ensures comfort in warm tropical sun or cooler New Zealand breezes.
Bring sunscreen, a reusable water bottle, and maybe even snorkel gear to maximize island adventures. Don’t forget to capture the moments, they pop up quickly, sunrises, sunsets, whales, dolphins, and sparkling lagoons. These are memories that last long after you return home.
