Dining at Halekulani is an experience unto itself. La Mer is, without exaggeration, a culinary event—an hours-long journey through French cuisine inspired by the south of France, elevated by local Hawaiian ingredients. It’s the only restaurant in Hawai'i to hold both AAA Five Diamond and Forbes Five-Star honors for over three decades, and every meal I’ve had there has been unforgettable. For something more relaxed, House Without a Key is my go-to: open-air, poolside, with nightly Hawaiian music and hula. The coconut white cake here is legendary—light as air, and absolutely essential. Orchids, meanwhile, hosts a Sunday Sparkling Brunch that’s the talk of the town; it’s so popular that even hotel guests need to plan ahead, though the staff managed to secure me a spot with ease.
