Weekend Getaway to Laguna Beach: Stay at Casa Loma Beach Hotel
Curator’s statement

Weekend getaways from Los Angeles are my go-to for a quick recharge, and Laguna Beach is always at the top of my list. I’ve been keeping an eye on Casa Loma (formerly The Laguna Beach Inn) throughout its renovation. I was so excited to finally check it out. The refreshed design perfectly captures Laguna’s easygoing coastal vibe with just the right amount of modern flair. It’s exactly the kind of place that makes a quick getaway feel like something special.

Overview

Casa Loma, formerly The Inn at Laguna Beach, reopened last fall after an impressive $15 million renovation. The redesign, led by the talented team at Bowery Electric, brings their signature style to this coastal retreat. The result is a fresh, modern aesthetic that stays true to Laguna’s laid-back, artsy vibe. Whether you’re lounging by the pool, soaking in ocean views or exploring nearby Main Beach, Casa Loma offers the perfect blend of thoughtful design and California cool.

This hotel is ideal for guests who value aesthetics, ocean views and proximity to the beach over extensive onsite dining and amenities. Its central location is perfect for exploring Laguna’s vibrant shops, galleries and restaurants. In peak season, the lively area may feel a bit too bustling for those seeking total serenity.

Location

Casa Loma sits just above Main Beach in Laguna, perfectly positioned for stunning ocean views and easy access to town. It’s less than a 5-minute walk to the center of Laguna Beach, where you’ll find art galleries, great shopping and plenty of dining options.

Driving-wise, it’s about an hour from both Los Angeles and San Diego. For those flying in, LAX is approximately 50 miles (a little over an hour), John Wayne Airport (SNA) is just 17 miles (30 minutes) and San Diego International Airport is about 75 miles (an hour and 15 minutes). A super convenient spot to soak up all that coastal charm.

Rooms

Casa Loma features 70 newly appointed rooms, each showcasing the thoughtful design and high-quality renovation led by Bowery Electric. Rooms are outfitted with beautiful pieces by small makers, reflecting the care and energy poured into the project. Beds and bedding are comfortable, and a standout feature is the in-room radios that stream a custom station, adding a personal touch to the stay.

Room options include Ocean View rooms, Village-facing rooms overlooking the town’s main street, Pool View rooms and Luxury Suites. Ocean View or balcony rooms are highly recommended for those who want outdoor space to fully enjoy the setting. The Suites are great for anyone needing more space for an extended stay.

Amenities + food & beverage

Casa Loma offers a private, hotel-guest-only experience with thoughtful touches and a laid-back, boutique vibe. While it doesn’t have a full-service restaurant, spa or valet parking, the property focuses on creating an inviting and stylish atmosphere for its guests.

Tapas-style bites are available at Cecilia’s, along with a curated selection of beer, wine and canned cocktails. Freshly baked cookies from local favorite Rye Goods are offered in the evenings, and a nightly turndown service features indulgent sea-salted chocolates.

Beach chairs are available for guest use — perfect for heading down to Main Beach — and the hotel’s new texting service makes it easy to order food and drinks right to the pool.

Common areas

The lobby at Casa Loma is just as stunning as the photos you’ve seen online — an Instagram-worthy space that impresses in person. Within the lobby, there’s an intimate bar area with four stools, perfect for a casual drink or snack.

Above the lobby, the mezzanine level offers additional seating, including tables lining the balcony and a cozy booth. It is a great spot to relax or catch up on some work. The top floor features a spacious meeting room with sweeping ocean views and plenty of inviting seating areas for guests to unwind or gather.

Casa Loma is an ideal choice if you're looking for a change of scenery from your home office. With its peaceful ambiance and thoughtful design, it’s the perfect place to work, recharge or even roll out a yoga mat. My friend and I streamed a yoga class and enjoyed it on the rooftop!

Bonus

Casa Loma features a thoughtfully curated shop offering a great selection of merchandise. This includes branded towels, Flamingo Estate candles, Vacation sun care and stylish straw hats. Everything perfect for a chic beach day.

Casa Loma Pool

For dog lovers, this hotel is incredibly pet-friendly. Unlike many places, dogs are even welcome in the pool area, making it a great option if you’re traveling with your furry companion. Casa Loma truly embraces a relaxed, inclusive vibe for both guests and their pets.

Need to know

Casa Loma is perfect for travelers who care about aesthetics, ocean views and being right in the heart of Laguna Beach. It’s a great pick in the summer, but honestly even better in the off-season when it’s less crowded, and you can enjoy the town at a slower pace. With its boutique vibe, dog-friendly policy and guest-only perks, it’s a stylish and easygoing spot for a beach getaway.
