Quiet Luxury in Santorini
Curator’s statement

Nestled in the small village of Megalochori, Vedema is an oasis among the chaos of Santorini. My family and I stayed here for five nights in August of 2023 and had an authentic and restful Greek holiday. I can’t recommend this property enough.

August in Santorini is a literal zoo of tourists. We knew that we had chosen a very popular time to travel, but since we were traveling during school holidays we had to make it work. We chose Vedema because it is the perfect setting to enjoy authentic Greek hospitality tucked away into a beautiful village while also being close to the major tourist areas and attractions. While at Vedema, we enjoyed first class service daily at breakfast on the outdoor terrace. Every detail was attended to from the time we arrived until departure.

We enjoyed meals both on property and in the surrounding areas. There are many fantastic dining options that are walkable. There is also a small market and ice cream shop that we visited daily! While staying at Vedema we took advantage of the complimentary shuttle to visit the black sand beaches which were amazing! The pool areas are also fantastic and we were happy to have both pool and beach options available.

Megalochori is known for its many surrounding wineries and we took advance of of it! I love a crisp cold white wine on a hot day! Vedema is also close to many interesting archeological sites and tours. While a car is necessary to visit Oia and Thira, there are many tours and taxis available for day trips. We will definitely stay at Vedema again!
