UAE Luxury Stays: Jumeirah & Al Maha
Curator’s statement

Dubai and Abu Dhabi are destinations that break boundaries and surpass every expectation I had before visiting. In one trip, you can experience it all: world-class shopping, swimming in turquoise waters, sailing at sunset, indulging in incredible dining, exploring the desert reserve by camel, or even witnessing the thrill of Formula 1. Beyond the luxury and adventure, what makes this region truly special is its rich cultural heritage—wandering through Old Dubai, visiting magnificent mosques, and connecting with authentic Arabian traditions. It’s a place where modern wonders and timeless culture coexist, offering travelers a complete and unforgettable journey.

The best way to experience the UAE is to start in Dubai, where modern luxury meets Arabian tradition. At Jumeirah Marsa Al Arab, you’re in the heart of it all—shopping at the Dubai Mall for every brand imaginable (it’s overstimulating in the best way, with an ice rink, aquarium, fountains, and even a Chinatown), or at the Mall of the Emirates for true luxury. Balance it with time on the beach (Palm or Jumeirah), and evenings dining at top spots like Pierchic and Rockfish right next to Marsa Al Arab. The resort’s gym is one of the most impressive I’ve seen, overlooking the Arabian Gulf—though I’d say the Museum of the Future is one attraction you can easily skip.

Next, unwind in Abu Dhabi at Jumeirah Saadiyat Island, where I’d happily spend hours by the turquoise sea and dining at SAL, the resort’s stylish beach club. Between swims, explore cultural landmarks like the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque and the Louvre Abu Dhabi, and don’t miss the chance to connect with the area’s wildlife—it’s one of the highlights of the island.

Finally, close your trip with a magical desert escape at Al Maha, a Luxury Collection Desert Resort & Spa. Camel rides, falcon shows, and sunset picnics bring the desert to life, while your private pool overlooking the dunes is perfect for either a sunrise dip or a starlit swim. It’s the ultimate Arabian night and a perfect ending to a journey that blends city energy, seaside serenity, and desert magic.

Need to know

Best season: The ideal time to visit Dubai and Abu Dhabi is from November to March, when the weather is cooler and perfect for outdoor activities.

Budget tip: If the heat doesn’t bother you too much, visiting in May or June can be worthwhile—you’ll save significantly on hotels and still enjoy the full luxury experience.

Transfers: Dubai and Abu Dhabi are about 90 minutes apart by car—private transfers are the most comfortable way to move between cities, especially if staying at luxury resorts.

Cultural etiquette: When visiting mosques or exploring Old Dubai, modest dress is required (shoulders and knees covered, and headscarves for women in mosques). Resorts, beaches, and malls are more relaxed.

Dining and reservations: Top restaurants like Pierchic, Rockfish, and SAL book up quickly—reserve well in advance. Many hotels also offer exceptional in-house dining worth planning around.

Activities to prioritize: Desert experiences (sunset camel rides, falcon shows, and picnics) and cultural sites like Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque are musts. On the other hand, attractions like the Museum of the Future can be skipped if time is limited.
