Why Every Solo Traveler Should Cruise to Bermuda
Curator’s statement

This sailing was a much-needed solo getaway—and it completely changed how I view cruising alone. With an easy departure from Boston and a perfect mix of relaxation and adventure in Bermuda, this itinerary gave me the space to recharge and the community to connect. I met amazing people, indulged in great food and spa time, and left completely refreshed. It’s a reminder that solo travel doesn’t have to mean going it alone.

I recently sailed on the Norwegian Jewel from Boston to Bermuda and was honestly surprised by how well-suited this cruise was for a solo traveler. The itinerary was a dream: seven days total with four days at sea and three full days docked in Bermuda, giving me the best of both worlds—tons of onboard activities and ample time to explore a beautiful island at my own pace.

Norwegian Cruise Line made a real effort to make solo travelers feel welcome, with dedicated solo meetups and social events. I never once felt like I was alone. The atmosphere was friendly and casual, and by the end of the trip, I’d made real connections with other travelers.

The dining experience was another highlight. The Jewel offers a mix of buffet, main dining room, and several specialty restaurants. With the More at Sea package, I had access to the all-inclusive beverage plan and specialty dining, and I was blown away by the quality—fresh seafood, expertly prepared dishes, and excellent service across the board.

If you’re cruising on an itinerary with multiple sea days, here’s my biggest tip: invest in the thermal spa pass. For $199, I had access to the tranquil spa lounge, saunas, steam room, and thermal pools whenever I wanted. It became my favorite way to unwind between excursions and gave me that resort-style relaxation without the crowds.

In Bermuda, I explored Hamilton for shopping, lounged at the nearby beaches, and went on a boat and snorkel adventure that was the perfect way to experience the island’s crystal-clear waters. One of the best parts? The ship docks for multiple days, so you can go back and forth as you please—no rush, no stress.

This trip is perfect for solo travelers looking for a mix of structure and spontaneity, especially those who want to feel independent but not isolated. The Bermuda itinerary offers a laid-back yet enriching destination that’s ideal for first-time solo cruisers or seasoned travelers alike.
