Hotel Spotlight: The LINE Austin
Curator’s statement

This hotel is a foodie’s dream and an outdoorsy person’s perfect location. With multiple in-hotel dining experiences, including the famed Veracruz, you could spend days here without eating anywhere but the hotel (though of course, you have to try Terry Black's). Being right on the water, you can jump right onto the running path or into a kayak as well!

The LINE Austin is an absolute gem for travelers seeking that perfect balance of design-forward hospitality and authentic Austin energy.

What really sets this property apart is its location and walkability—you’re steps from Lady Bird Lake's trail system (ideal for runners), Rainey Street's bar scene is a 15-minute walk, and you're centrally positioned for quick Ubers to South Congress, East Austin, and anywhere else you want to explore.

The welcome amenities are thoughtful (we received a complimentary bottle of champagne upon arrival), and if you receive a site credit, it's perfectly spent on Arlo Grey's elevated comfort food—the quality justifies using every dollar there.

The complimentary paddleboard access is rare and genuinely special, letting you launch right onto the lake from your hotel.

The rooftop bar offers stunning city views perfect for sunset cocktails, and the pool and gym are both excellent—the gym especially stands out with quality equipment and a great setup for maintaining your workout routine while traveling.

The early check-in and late check-out flexibility (when available) is a game-changer for weekend trips, especially if you’re flying in Saturday morning and want to maximize your time.

Who is this for?

I particularly love The LINE for active travelers and couples who prioritize location and lifestyle amenities over traditional luxury. The vibe skews younger and design-conscious—think exposed concrete, floor-to-ceiling windows, and curated art rather than marble lobbies.

If you're someone who wants to run or paddleboard, you'll absolutely maximize this property. Weekend warriors coming for live music, BBQ, and the Austin scene will love the central location and lack of stuffiness. The rooms themselves are thoughtfully minimalist with excellent showers and blackout shades.

This isn’t the place for families with kids or those seeking full-service resorts with multiple restaurants, but for solo travelers, couples, and anyone who wants that rare combination of cool factor and genuine convenience, The LINE delivers an effortless Austin experience.
