I boarded Brilliant Lady in Miami, where embarkation was smooth and set the tone for a relaxed but elevated sailing experience from the start. The ship immediately felt modern and thoughtfully designed, with open, social spaces balanced by quieter areas to unwind. Sailing out of Miami with the skyline in the background made for a memorable beginning as the ship transitioned into open water.
On this itinerary, I visited Turks and Caicos, Antigua, St. Kitts and Nevis, and Puerto Rico, each offering a different side of the Caribbean. Turks and Caicos stood out for its crystal-clear water and easy beach access, while Antigua offered a mix of scenic coastline and historical charm. St. Kitts and Nevis felt more relaxed and lush, with a slower pace, and Puerto Rico brought a livelier energy with great food, culture, and walkable streets in Old San Juan. The itinerary struck a strong balance between exploration and time to enjoy the ship.

One of the highlights onboard was the dining experience, especially the variety of included specialty restaurants. I really enjoyed Pink Agave for elevated Mexican cuisine, Razzle Dazzle for its creative vegetarian-forward dishes with a bold, modern twist, Gunbae for Korean BBQ and a fun, social dining atmosphere, and Extra Virgin for classic Italian dishes in a warm, intimate setting. Each restaurant felt distinct, with no sense of repetition across venues, which made dining feel like part of the experience rather than just a meal.

I also appreciated The Galley, which is Virgin Voyages’ take on a modern food hall. Instead of a traditional buffet, it features made-to-order stations like a diner, taco counter, noodle bar, salad shop, and sandwich options, all prepared fresh as you order. It made lunch especially convenient because you could mix and match different cuisines depending on your mood, without the usual cruise buffet feel or limitations. It was one of the biggest differences compared to other cruise lines and something I found myself using daily.

Another standout was the onboard wellness offering. The free fitness classes were a great surprise—I was able to try sessions I wouldn’t normally book, which made the experience feel more active and engaging rather than just indulgent. Between the gym, classes, and open deck spaces, it was easy to stay balanced while still feeling like I was on vacation.

Overall, Brilliant Lady delivered a modern, flexible cruise experience that blended destination-focused travel with a strong onboard lifestyle. It’s especially well suited for travelers who value variety in dining, enjoy active and social spaces, and want a more contemporary, adults-only approach to cruising the Caribbean.

Need to know
Embarkation and timing: Boarding Brilliant Lady in Miami was smooth and well organized, but it’s important to arrive at your check-in time and give yourself time to explore the ship before sailaway. Disembarkation in each port is also staggered, so planning early excursions helps maximize your time ashore.
Getting the most out of the ship: One of the biggest differences with Virgin Voyages is how flexible everything feels. There are no fixed dining times or traditional cruise buffets, so it’s helpful to make restaurant reservations for the specialty dining venues like Pink Agave, Razzle Dazzle, Gunbae, and Extra Virgin, especially on sea days. At the same time, don’t overlook The Galley, which is perfect for quick, made-to-order meals throughout the day when you want something casual and convenient.
Dining and onboard strategy: Because all specialty restaurants are included, it’s easy to overplan—but part of the experience is leaving room for spontaneity. Lunch at The Galley is especially underrated since it offers so many fresh options without feeling repetitive. For dinner, each restaurant has its own personality, so it’s worth spreading them out across the sailing rather than rushing to try everything early on.
Wellness and activities: The included fitness classes are a standout feature and tend to book up quickly, so reserving spots early in the voyage is recommended. Even if you don’t usually prioritize workouts on vacation, the variety of classes makes it easy to try something new, and it’s a great way to balance out the dining experience onboard.
Who this cruise is best for: Brilliant Lady is ideal for adults looking for a modern, social cruise experience without the traditional cruise structure. It’s especially well suited for couples, friend groups, and solo travelers who enjoy good food, design-forward spaces, and a more flexible, lifestyle-driven approach to cruising. It may feel less suited for travelers who prefer very structured programming or family-focused cruise amenities.
Overall, the key to enjoying this sailing is embracing the flexibility—mixing planned experiences with spontaneous moments, both onboard and in port, makes the trip feel the most rewarding.
