Secrets Papagayo is best suited for couples who want an intimate, peaceful atmosphere. As an adult-only escape, it naturally lends itself to romance, relaxation, and quality time together. The resort’s quiet pathways, tucked away casitas, and serene bay setting create the ideal environment for couples to reconnect.

The pool
Guests can reserve private cabanas by the pool, stroll the black sand beach, or enjoy sunset cocktails overlooking the water—all simple but meaningful moments that make a romantic getaway feel effortless.
During my stay, I added excursions that showcased the beauty of Costa Rica, from lush landscapes to wildlife and coastal views. It’s easy to blend relaxation with adventure here.

I also recommend booking one of the preferred rooms, which will entitle you to the following privileges: complimentary cabana, premium liquors, access to the Preferred Lounge, preferred menu (room service), and special in-room amenities.

View from my preferred suite
To me, the all-inclusive experience felt elevated and uncrowded—convenient without ever feeling overwhelming.

Need to know
The U.S. dollar is widely accepted, so you don’t need to exchange money before you go. The resort also has an ATM on site if you’d like to withdraw Costa Rican Colones during your stay.
Bringing a bit of extra cash in small bills is helpful for tipping drivers, servers, and housekeeping, though tipping is completely optional.
If you haven’t booked your excursions yet, no stress—the resort has an on-site desk, and their team is happy to help you book tours and activities once you arrive.
