Curator’s statement
This Disney Merrytime Cruise was a truly magical multigenerational getaway. I sailed with my mom, my 6-month-old, and my 3-year-old, and we all found something to love. There’s just something extra special about the holidays at sea—twinkling lights, character hugs, festive shows, and memory-making galore. From baby’s first time in the nursery to seeing my toddler light up during character meet-and-greets, it was a trip full of joy and surprises. Disney’s exceptional service and attention to families made everything feel seamless, even with two littles in tow!

Our Merrytime Cruise aboard the Disney Dream was pure holiday magic from start to finish. Sailing from Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale from November 12–17, 2025, we spent five nights surrounded by festive cheer, top-tier service, and nonstop Disney fun. The ship was decked out in garlands and twinkling lights, and the towering Christmas tree in the atrium created the perfect backdrop for holiday photos. I traveled with my mom, my 6-month-old, and my 3-year-old—and yes, Disney managed to make everyone happy.

We chose to drive to Fort Lauderdale and park at the port, and it couldn’t have been easier. We dropped our luggage off curbside before heading into the parking garage, which is right next to the terminal. When we disembarked, cast members helped us all the way back to our car with our luggage. It was seamless, efficient, and especially convenient with two kids and all the gear that comes with them!

Never a dull moment with Chip & Dale
Our itinerary included stops at Nassau, Bahamas, and Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point. We chose to stay onboard during our Nassau stop, and it was actually a fantastic decision. The ship was quieter, and we had a blast exploring the splash pad, play areas, and onboard activities. At Lookout Cay, we headed to the island in the afternoon. While it was a bit of a walk (and tram ride) to the beach, the kids loved the island’s splash pad, and we soaked up some sun before heading back for late afternoon meet-and-greets. Having the best of both worlds—fun in the sun and low-crowd character time—made it a perfect balance.

The Disney Dream at Lookout Cay
One of the biggest highlights was how incredible Disney was with young children. My 3-year-old loved meeting the characters. We made it a daily mission to catch Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, princesses, and friends in their festive outfits. We’d line up about 20 minutes early, but the wait flew by and the cast members made every interaction feel magical. A standout moment? We did Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, and even though only one package was available for boys at the time, my son chose the Captain Mickey outfit and he absolutely loved it. He wore that costume every single day of the cruise! We were even lucky enough to meet Mickey in his own captain outfit while my son was dressed the same. It was the cutest thing ever, and a memory I’ll cherish forever.

Meeting Minnie Mouse is always a magical time
We also utilized the “It's A Small World” nursery for both kids. Neither had used a nursery before, but they loved it! We staggered their time so we could enjoy special one-on-one moments with each child. It was such a gift on vacation to connect that way. Dining was another highlight. We opted for the second seating, and even when our toddler fell asleep at the table, the dining team swooped in and created a cozy “bed” using two chairs and a tablecloth. These little touches—thoughtful, kind, and totally seamless—are what make a Disney Cruise so extraordinary.

This cruise is perfect for families with kids of all ages, especially those with toddlers or babies who want to travel without stress. Whether you're looking for a multigenerational trip, a baby’s first vacation, or a holiday escape that feels truly magical, a Merrytime Cruise on the Disney Dream delivers. Between the nurseries, Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, character meet-and-greets, and island fun, it’s a memory-making machine from start to finish.
