Mayfair, Perfectly Measured: The Chancery Rosewood
Curator’s statement

The Chancery Rosewood is a true celebration of culture, history, architecture, art, and culinary excellence. Once the iconic 1960s US Embassy designed by Eero Saarinen, it’s now an all-suite hotel where every detail tells a story. The 700+ artworks curated by Cramer & Bell, and the private art tours make it feel like a living gallery, while the extraordinary dining and elegant design complete an unforgettable experience and one that feels especially meaningful to me as a dual US and UK citizen. Once a place I had both my sons’ first US passports issued is now a place for making more beautiful memories.

Where to stay in London

Step outside, and you’re instantly swept into the heart of Mayfair, where elegance never shouts. Mount Street, in particular feels like a scene from a perfectly lit film: Georgian façades, glossy boutiques, and the most impeccably dressed Londoners who know exactly where they’re going.

I love wandering this stretch, stopping for an espresso at one of the sleek cafés or Marchesi, and losing time in boutiques that feel more like private salons. When it’s time to eat, The Mount Street Restaurant always delivers an elevated and art-filled experience, while Scott’s remains untouchable, a institution for all things seafood, and where the service is as polished as the oysters.

For a quintessentially British pause, Guy Ritchie’s Punch Bowl has that perfectly worn-in pub charm, while Mr Fogg’s serves up theatrical cocktails.

As evening falls, The Connaught Bar is my go-to for one of the best cocktails in London. Sleek, intimate, and effortlessly stylish, it’s the perfect place to toast a day in Mayfair. Just watching the mixologist at work is an art form.

Mayfair’s cultural heartbeat is equally compelling. Art lovers will find Gagosian Gallery, Phillips, and Sotheby’s, as well as Hauser & Wirth and Waddington Custot, all within walking distance. Bond Street’s long legacy as London’s epicenter of luxury and art since the 18th century ensures that history and contemporary creativity collide with effortless grace.

When I crave quiet, I head toward Hyde Park and Speakers’ Corner, where Londoners have shared their opinions for centuries. A morning walk here is the perfect way to reset—a rare pause in the city’s elegant rhythm. And just minutes away, Selfridges offers that timeless London thrill: since 1909, its iconic façade, curated brands, and whimsical windows have made it more than a department store—it’s a landmark of taste and imagination.

This corner of London encapsulates everything I adore about the city—its layers of history, design, art, and style woven together with grace. Mayfair isn’t simply where you go. It’s where you arrive. As someone who lives and breathes the rhythm of this neighborhood, I know the hidden corners, the must-visit spots, and the hidden gems. I love sharing them with those who seek more than just a visit to London but a true experience of its most elegant heartbeat.
