Curator’s statement
Scottsdale is one of those destinations that effortlessly combines relaxation, luxury, and adventure, making it ideal for everything from a long weekend getaway to a special celebration. During my stay at Omni Scottsdale Resort & Spa at Montelucia, I experienced exceptional hospitality, beautifully designed accommodations, a rejuvenating spa day, relaxing time in a private pool cabana, and two unforgettable private-chef dinners that showcased the resort's incredible culinary offerings. What makes this destination so special is its ability to help you slow down and truly enjoy the moment, whether you're unwinding by the pool, indulging in wellness experiences, or taking in the stunning desert scenery. It's the kind of place where every detail feels thoughtfully curated, creating a stay that is both luxurious and genuinely restorative.

Entrance to hotel
Nestled at the base of Camelback Mountain, Omni Scottsdale Resort & Spa at Montelucia offers a unique blend of luxury, wellness, exceptional dining, and authentic desert beauty. Inspired by the villages of southern Spain, the resort feels like a Mediterranean escape in the heart of Arizona, with charming courtyards, fountains, mountain views, and beautifully landscaped grounds. What impressed me most during my stay was how seamlessly the property balances relaxation and sophistication while maintaining a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The service was consistently attentive and genuine, creating an experience that felt both luxurious and approachable.

Food & drink
One of the highlights of the stay was the culinary offerings. We enjoyed two private dining experiences that showcased the resort's commitment to elevated food and beverage offerings. The Chef's Tasting Menu with wine pairings in Prado's private wine room was an intimate and memorable introduction to the property's dining philosophy, while the private Chef's Kitchen dinner with Chef Richard provided a behind-the-scenes culinary experience that was both interactive and delicious. Beyond these special events, Prado consistently delivered excellent meals in a beautiful setting overlooking Camelback Mountain. For travelers who prioritize exceptional food as part of their vacation experience, Montelucia is a destination in itself.

Wellness
The wellness offerings were equally impressive. The Joya Spa is one of the best resort spas I have experienced, offering not only exceptional treatments but also access to extensive wellness amenities. Guests can spend an entire day enjoying the rooftop spa pool, hot tubs, saunas, steam rooms, cold-plunge experiences, relaxation spaces, and thoughtfully curated food and beverage service. The morning yoga and mindfulness session overlooking the grounds and mountain views was the perfect way to start the day and demonstrated the resort's focus on helping guests truly unwind. For couples, girlfriends' getaways, babymoons, or anyone seeking a wellness-focused retreat, the spa alone is reason enough to visit.

The pool
The resort's pool experience is another standout feature. With multiple pools available throughout the property, guests can choose between a lively social atmosphere or a quieter place to relax. Our private cabana experience at the Oasis Pool was a wonderful way to spend an afternoon, combining attentive service, comfortable accommodations, and Arizona sunshine. The pool staff consistently went above and beyond to create a seamless experience, and it was clear that guest satisfaction is a priority throughout the resort.

My takeaways
I would confidently recommend Omni Scottsdale Resort & Spa at Montelucia for couples seeking a romantic getaway, wellness travelers looking to recharge, girlfriends' trips, milestone celebrations, babymoons, and travelers wanting a luxury long weekend without needing to leave the property. While there is plenty to explore in nearby Scottsdale and Phoenix, the resort itself offers enough dining, wellness, and recreational experiences to fill several days comfortably. Whether your ideal vacation includes spa treatments, poolside relaxation, mountain views, exceptional cuisine, or simply slowing down and enjoying the moment, Montelucia delivers an experience that feels both indulgent and restorative.

Need to know
Plan at least one full spa day. The spa is much more than a treatment appointment—guests have access to extensive wellness amenities, including a rooftop spa pool, hot tubs, saunas, steam rooms, relaxation lounges, and food and beverage service. I recommend arriving early and staying well after your treatment to fully enjoy the experience.
Reserve dining and spa appointments in advance. Popular dining times, cabanas, and spa treatments can fill quickly, particularly during peak season (October–April) and on weekends. If celebrating a special occasion, let the resort know in advance, as they do an excellent job creating memorable experiences.
Arizona sunshine is no joke. Even during cooler months, the desert sun can be intense. Bring sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, and stay hydrated, especially if you plan to spend time at the pools or hiking nearby.
Consider upgrading your pool experience. A private cabana at the Oasis Pool is a worthwhile splurge for travelers planning to spend a full day poolside. The dedicated service, shade, and comfortable seating elevate the experience considerably.
The location is ideal for both relaxation and exploration. The resort sits at the base of Camelback Mountain and is conveniently located near many of Scottsdale's top attractions, including golf courses, shopping, restaurants, and hiking trails. Guests can easily combine resort time with off-property adventures.
Perfect for a long weekend. While Scottsdale offers plenty to see and do, I found that three to four nights is the sweet spot for enjoying the resort's amenities without feeling rushed. Many travelers could happily spend their entire stay on property.
Who should visit?
I especially recommend this resort for couples, anniversary trips, babymoons, girlfriends' getaways, wellness-focused travelers, and anyone looking for a luxury desert escape with exceptional service, dining, spa experiences, and beautiful mountain views.
Best time to visit
October through April offers the most comfortable temperatures for outdoor activities, dining al fresco, hiking, and poolside relaxation. Summer can be very hot, but often comes with attractive resort rates and fewer crowds for travelers comfortable with the heat.
