Curator’s statement
There are certain hotels that just feel special the moment you walk in—and The Rittenhouse is absolutely one of them. As someone who loves sharing authentic, luxury experiences with my clients, this property really struck a chord with me. I’ve sent clients here before, but getting the chance to personally experience and tour it gave me a whole new appreciation for what makes it so unique. It’s not just elegant—it’s heartfelt. The Rittenhouse knows how to make every guest feel at home, and that’s something you can’t fake.

First impressions
From the second I stepped into the lobby, I felt the calm sophistication of the space. It’s classic, but never pretentious. The staff greeted me warmly—genuinely, not out of obligation—and that set the tone for the entire visit. The natural light that filters through the rooms, thanks to the hotel’s sawtooth design, gives everything this soft, golden glow that instantly puts you at ease. There’s a quiet confidence to this place—it doesn’t need to shout luxury, it just is.

The experience
The guest rooms carry a traditional style—beautiful, spacious, and full of character. They might not feel as sleek as some of the newer five-star properties in the city, but there’s something comforting about their timelessness. What truly makes The Rittenhouse shine is the level of care that goes into every guest’s stay. You feel it in the way the team remembers your preferences, how they anticipate what you might need before you even ask. It’s thoughtful, human, and rare.

One of my favorite touches is the Jaguar service—a complimentary ride anywhere within two miles of the hotel. It’s such a luxury to be whisked away in style for dinner or shopping without worrying about logistics. And then there’s Scarpetta, the hotel’s Northern Italian restaurant that first made its mark in New York. The food is phenomenal, and their monthly pasta-making classes are such a fun and interactive experience—I can’t recommend them enough for anyone who enjoys a hands-on culinary moment.
And if you’re someone who loves those elegant, slow afternoons, the afternoon tea service in the lobby is absolutely lovely. It feels old-world and refined, like a little escape from the buzz of the city.

Looking ahead
The hotel underwent a renovation in 2018, and another refresh is planned for 2025, which will only elevate what’s already a beautifully run property. It’s exciting to see them continue to evolve while keeping the heart of what makes The Rittenhouse so special.

Vernick Food & Drink: A true Philly gem—creative, seasonal, and intimate.

Final thoughts
The Rittenhouse isn’t about flashy luxury—it’s about connection, comfort, and genuine hospitality. It’s the kind of place that reminds you why you love traveling. For me, this hotel feels like a love letter to classic Philadelphia—refined, warm, and full of soul.
If you’re thinking about visiting, I’d love to help you experience The Rittenhouse the way I did: not just as a hotel stay, but as a truly personal and memorable moment in the city.
